Administrative Updates & Announcements From the Office

New and Improved HCS Liability Waiver

Our school has a new, improved liability waiver that replaces the old one. Every HCS family must complete this liability waiver. It covers all students in your family for all of their activities for as long as your family is enrolled at HCS.

The old liability will no longer be in effect and the new one must be signed. When re-enrollment opens on April 1, the signing of this new waiver will be one of the requirements needed in order to have your HSL account unparked. It would be helpful for us and for you to complete this task now.

The liability waiver can be found on the home page in HSL, or you can use this link: Release of Liability

Once you have filled it out and submitted it, you will get a confirmation email. Thank you to all who have already filled out this new waiver in the past month.

Class Registration Dates and Information

It’s that time of the year again! As usual, there are some things all members will need to do to be ready to register for classes in April. Please read the below carefully so there are no surprises.

REQUIRMENTS

All members must meet the FOUR requirements needed to register for classes:

1. Must re-enroll with the school (re-enrollment will open on April 1st)

2. Must have turned in 1st-semester grades

3. Must be financially current with the school

4. NEW - must fill out the new Liability Waiver on HSL. (The former waiver was only good for one school year. This new waiver is good for the duration of your membership with HCS. All members will need to fill out this new waiver if you have not already done so.)

IMPORTANT DATES

April 1

Re-enrollment for the 25/26 school year opens (no fee is due at this time). This takes place in your SIS account.

April 17

All members will be PARKED on HSL and will remain PARKED until all four items above are complete.

April 18

Class registration opens for everyone on the HCS Leadership Team as well as all Lead Teachers at either a Co-op Class Day or Academy. Class registration takes place in your HSL account.

April 21

Class registration opens for all existing HCS members

April 22

Class registration opens for all new HCS families for the 25/26 school year

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. The first time you log into HSL after you have been unparked, you will be prompted to update your family profile. Please go to your family profile and advance all your students to the grade they will be in for the 2025-2026 school year. Failure to do this may result in an inability to register for some grade-restricted classes.

2. San Diego Co-op Class Day families will have priority registration at the San Diego campus. If you are new to the SD campus (as defined by not being enrolled on the SD campus for the 24/25 school year), you will be unable to register for that campus until Tuesday, April 22 unless the new family is in a lead teaching role at the SD campus. Families who register their students at the SD campus who are not registered there this year and who are not lead teaching at the SD campus will be automatically removed from classes. You will need to re-register your student(s) on or after April 22nd.

2025-2026 Junior Academy Lead Needed

We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 Junior Academy Lead position. The job description for this position may be found HERE

You need not have a student enrolled in Junior Academy to apply. This position would help offset costs to either Junior or the HCS Academy (or other HCS expenses). The Junior Academy Lead position would become part of the HCS Leadership Team. The application period will remain open until the position is filled.  To apply, email principal@hcssd.org.

Please take a moment to thank Alyssa Inman for her excellent leadership as the Jr. Academy Lead this year.

Purged Library Books Available!

Stop by the office this week or next to get some curriculum we have purged from our library.

A wide variety of books are available, including Abeka textbooks, Story of the World, fiction novels, and more. Take as much as you'd like in exchange for a small donation.

These books will be donated or thrown away after March 28, so take a look!

Bonita and Escondido Co-op Class Days Closing

Due to low enrollment, the Bonita and Escondido co-op class days will be closing for next year. Thank you to both Laura Walmsley and Allison Wardrip for their excellent leadership at both campuses. Once we have a solid 15-20 families ready to launch another campus, we will do so!

Both San Diego and Santee campuses are gearing up for a great co-op year. Be part of the growth and ensure your spots in either campus by reaching out to the Leads and volunteering to teach. Lead teachers will receive an earlier registration date.

Instead, there are two times per year that each academy offers an Open House. Members and non-HCS members may RSVP to sit in on any classes at either academy on these dates.
