World Language
The 5th-8th grade World Language classes joined together for 40 days of Global prayer. Each student was assigned a“Dia de Cuaresma” prayer focus, they led prayer and shared a video clip and images of people who are in desperate need.

They researched a current event that highlights the need for “ORACION”. The situation was identified as extreme- in need of POWERFUL PRAYER. They identified people and places across the globe where prayer is urgent!
This video highlights the places lifted in prayer and the song of petition that was lifted daily.

Second Grade
The second grade class made a tissue paper cross and watercolored Easter eggs this week. 
Discernment for New SJA
School Board Members
The process is now underway to discern new school board members for the upcoming school year. The St. Joan of Arc School Board includes eleven members from St. Joan of Arc Parish, each of whom serves for a term of three years. Up to nine Discernment Candidates can undergo the discernment process for the 3 open positions. The mandatory meeting for Discernment Candidates will be on Monday, April 19th.
 
Discernment packets, which include a School Board application, are currently available here, via School Speak or by e-mail request to Jeremy Jackson (SAB Vice President) at jackson65@gmail.com. Completed applications should be emailed to Jeremy by Monday, April 12th.
 
Interested individuals are invited to participate in the discernment process at SJA. Please consider how your talents, time, and energy can best serve the School Board.

Lenten Project - Week 5
Fact
Kenya's economy relies heavily on agriculture- a dangerous gamble in a country frequently plagued by drought. Roughly 75% of the people earn at least a portion of their income through farming.
This week's Scripture Reading and Reflection:

Scripture Reading: John 12:20-33

Jesus told his disciples that they would bear fruit by dying to their flesh and sowing seeds of salvation. He assured them that the Father would honor anyone who used his or her life to serve Christ.

Reflection:

What are some practical ways that you can use your life to serve Christ right now? Spend some time discussing this question with your family. Make a plan to bless at least on person in need this week.
8th Grade
New Travel Recommendations
The CDC has updated its travel recommendations. If you plan to travel over the weekends or during the upcoming Spring Break, please click here to determine what steps you will take when you return. We ask that you are extra vigilant in watching for Covid symptoms as always.
We will move to remote learning for the week of April 6-9th to aid in this transition back to school. During those four days, all students will remain at home to attend synchronous, remote-learning lessons with their teachers. Attendance will be taken.

Parents will also be asked to report absences as they would on any regular, school day. Please note any known COVID-19 symptoms or exposures that may have occurred over the break when you report an absence.

A schedule and more information will be coming home shortly from your child’s homeroom teacher.
Chromebooks
Please let me know if you need a Chromebook for remote learning. Chromebooks will be available after spring break for families who need them.

Pick up

When: Monday, April 5th, 9-10 am
Where: GYM Doors
What: Parents need to sign the agreement at the time of pick up to borrow a Chromebook.

Drop off

When: Saturday, April 10th, 9-10 am
Where: GYM Doors
What: Chromebook and charging cord
Warm weather coming soon...I think!
Uniform shorts can be worn as of April 1st.
