A Message from Rev. Paula+
Beloved Community,

This was the view from my porch Tuesday night.  Who knew that International Night at the Preschool is so much fun?  Delicious food from around the world.  Horse and pony rides.  A petting zoo.  Face painting.  Bubbles. Drumming.  A photo booth. Perfect weather. Lots and lots of laughter and happy faces.  So many images of God celebrating their uniqueness in this common place.

This summer, we are going to have our own international celebration.  Beginning in mid-June through Labor Day weekend, we'll be using Eucharistic Prayers from other places, including Jerusalem, Canada, Ireland, and South India  as we experience the beautiful diversity of Anglican/Episcopal prayer across the world.  This will be a fun way to deepen our understanding of the "common" in our common prayer while simultaneously celebrating the wonderful diversity and uniqueness that is part of our religious tradition.

There is no denying that the rhythms of our life change after Memorial Day and that is a good thing. I do hope that you take the time this summer to join us in church when you are not traveling.  If getting an early start to your day is important, head on over for the 8:00.  You'll be on the road before 9:00.

Peace & Blessings,
Paula+

Christine's Kitchen
St. Stephen's will be hosting Christine's Kitchen at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 315 Main Street, West Orange on  Saturday, June 1.
We have enough volunteers, but anyone else is still welcome to participate.  We do need additional protein dishes.  Food should be dropped off between 10:30-11:30 am (or earlier  if your dish needs to be heated).   If you are unable to help serve, but would still like to send a dish, please let us know so we can make arrangements to pick it up if you can't drop it off.   Lunch is served from 12-1:00 pm.

Please contact  Deryck Rugbeer at deryck.rugbeer@ubs.com to volunteer or if you have any questions.  THANK YOU!

THANK YOU to everyone who donated supplies and came out to help us on Garden Party Sunday! It was a beautiful day to worship outside, share food, and garden together!

Reading with the Rector
Join Rev. Paula on the  first Sunday of each month for this new book club series. All selections are available from Cokesbury, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon. The group will meet after coffee hour in the Common Room. Visit our website calendar for meeting dates and book selections.

Next month's book is Take This Bread: A Radical Conversion by Sara Miles and will meet on Sunday, June 2 at 11:30 am.

Third Thursday Theater
June's movie screening and discussion will take place on June 20 at 7:00pm in the Common Room and will feature the documentary Under the Bridge: The Criminalization of Homelessness.

This film is about one summer in Indianapolis, a tent city under a bridge, a man named Maurice, and the criminalization of homelessness in the United States. The unofficial "mayor" of the Davidson St. camp, Maurice is an older, dreadlocked Black man who has dropped out of "normal" society to minister to the homeless. His camp under a railroad track becomes a real community, supported by church volunteers, until police and bulldozers close in to shut it down.
