Peer Advisor Question & Answer Sessions Continue

Have questions about getting settled at U-M and in Ann Arbor? Join a live Question & Answer (Q&A) session with Summer Orientation Peer Advisors!


These sessions are designed to complement the Peer-to-Peer Conversation (P2P) recordings and slides available in the IC’s 2026 Summer Orientation Canvas Course. Each week, Peer Advisors will answer questions on select P2P topics in an informal, office-hours style format. You are welcome to drop in for a few minutes or stay for the full hour.


We encourage you to watch the related P2P recordings in advance so you can get the most out of the live discussion. Please note that Peer Advisors are unable to answer immigration-related questions.

Orientation Workshops

Virtual & In-Person Offerings


As a part of the International Center's Orientation series, we offer a number of workshops presented by staff from departments and organizations on and nearby campus. You may register for as many sessions as you are interested in! Most of these sessions are virtual with a few occurring in-person at U-M, and all sessions are listed in Michigan's time zone: Eastern Daylight Time.

August International Coffee Hour

Come meet new international students and learn about the Michigan Language Center (MLC)! This is a “meet and greet” event, so you can come and go at any time you like. The event will take place at the MLC. Snacks and drinks provided!


MLC is a private English language school in Ann Arbor, which makes it a great option for spouses/partners who are interested in improving their English language skills and finding community in Ann Arbor. So, spouses/partners are also welcome to attend this event!



This event is co-sponsored by the International Center and MLC.

Advising Highlight

Travel Prepared: Arrival to the U.S.


Have all required and recommended documentation printed and organized in your carry-on luggage.


Upon arrival in the U.S., you will present yourself to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for the entry procedure. During the entry procedure, they will require the three documents listed above, and they may ask additional questions or ask for additional documents. Being organized means you can confidently provide answers or supporting documents for any questions

Have you registered International Student and Family Welcome Day, yet?! Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged for both undergraduate and graduate international students, along with their family members who travel with them to campus. Highlights include sessions on cultural adjustment, maintaining immigration status, international student health insurance, and more. This is also a great chance to meet other new international students from all around the world! Don't miss this opportunity to ease into campus life!

Orientation Canvas Course


The International Center provides essential orientation resources through a dedicated Canvas Course. Access recordings and slides from virtual orientation sessions that have already occurred, important announcements, and a calendar of events. Incoming international students are strongly encouraged to enroll (click below and/or check your U-M email for an invitation to enroll!)
