Check Your I-20 or DS-2019
The Form I-20 will be used for both your visa application and when you travel into the U.S., so it's important to make sure that it is accurate. Double-check your biographical and program details on page 1 to make sure they match your passport and the program that you've been admitted to, respectively. If you have any questions, reach out to the department that issued your I-20.
PRINT and SIGN the I-20. A hand-signed physical document will be required during both your visa interview and your entry to the U.S. Don't skip this step!

Meet Your Summer 2026 Orientation Peer Advisors! 💙💛
The IC's Orientation Peer Advisors—current international undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of countries, departments, and programs—are here to welcome you to the University of Michigan.
Throughout late July and August, they’ll help you get connected through Peer-to-Peer sessions, social events, campus and Ann Arbor tours, and an information table outside the International Center. With their diverse experiences and firsthand knowledge, they’re excited to answer your questions, share helpful tips, connect you with resources, and help you start building community as a Wolverine!

Join International Center’s Canvas Course
The International Center provides essential orientation resources through a dedicated Canvas Course. Inside, you’ll find recordings and slides from virtual orientation sessions that have already occurred, important announcements, and a regularly updated calendar of events. All incoming international students are strongly encouraged to enroll to ensure you don’t miss any orientation-related materials or events. Canvas is a user-friendly, web-based platform which you will likely also use for some of your courses this fall. Get connected and make the most of your U-M experience!

Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged for both undergraduate and graduate international students, along with their family members who travel with them to campus. Highlights include sessions on cultural adjustment, maintaining immigration status, international student health insurance, and more. This is also a great chance to meet other new international students from all around the world! Don't miss this opportunity to ease into campus life!

Writing 160: Multilingual Writing
Fall 2026 Course Offering
Are you looking to add another course to your Fall schedule? Check out Writing 160! College writing, like US society as a whole, is becoming increasingly global and digital, and students in Writing 160.006: Multimodal Writing / Multilingual Writing will explore how multilingual skills can be harnessed as a resource to meet modern students’ college writing needs.
This course will explore the causes and effects of multilingual education policies in the US, the benefits of multilingualism in college writing and scholarship, and how English writing can be enhanced by multilingualism. Designed to meet first-year writing goals, this course will also encourage students to develop a rhetorical perspective on multilingualism related to academic writing.

In a peer-led dialogue workshop, connect with other incoming students, reflect on your social identities, and practice skills you learned about in the Talking Maize & Blue module. Workshop participants will also be invited to a special welcome event this fall!
