Empowering & Preparing Parents for their child's IEP

This monthly training will help parents learn everything from basic information about the IEP process to more advanced strategies—such as what to do when you don’t agree with your child’s IEP. Participating parents will receive a FREE digital download to help you create your own IEP binder at home!

Preparando y Empoderando a los Padres para el IEP de sus Hijos

Esta serie de talleres ayudará a los padres a aprender desde información básica sobre el proceso del IEP hasta estrategias más avanzadas, como los pasos que pueden tomar cuando no están de acuerdo con el IEP de su hijo(a). Los padres participantes recibirán una descarga digital GRATUITA para ayudarles a crear su propio cuaderno de IEP en casa.

National Bullying Prevention Month

Bullying comes in many forms, none of which are acceptable. October’s National Bullying Prevention Month reminds us that students, parents, teachers, and school administrators all play a role. Positive change comes as we begin to emphasize respect and inclusion on campuses across the country. People with Down syndrome are born with an extra chromosome & this extra chromosome leads to a range of issues that can affect a person both mentally and physically. ADHD Awareness Month

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity—ADHD—is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting 11 percent of school-age children. Symptoms continue into adulthood in more for more than three out of four people diagnosed as children. ADHD is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity. Learn more here

Northridge Early Education Center Back to School event

September 12

Thank you to Northridge Early Education Center for inviting FFRC to their Back to School event! Diana met so many great families and shared how FFRC can help families if they have a child with a developmental delay or disability.

Early Start Playdate

September 13

FFRC hosted an Early Start playdate for our families at Dearborn Park on September 13th. We had so much fun playing Connect Four, playing in the parachute, and making huge bubbles with new friends. Thank you to Arabesque Music for sharing their information and giving the kids wrist bells to take home! Keep an eye out for more Early Start events to be announced soon in the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita regions.

This resource fair hosted by JLA Trust, was a very fun day filled with lots of resources, community services, activities, and more! Theresa met Andres, he makes his own cool t-shirts and sells when he is able!

AV FSG families got together for the first in person meeting enjoying food, meeting new families, sharing stories, and getting helpful info from FFRC and NLACRC staff!

NLACRC Empower Expo in AV

The Antelope Valley Empower Expo hosted by North LA County Regional Center was a great opportunity for all those with disabilities and their loved ones to get an abundance of resources and information in their area. It was also fun seeing all the great activities they had for socialization like the workshops, face painting, and a dance. It was a wonderful time for our community. Looking forward to the Empower Expo at CSUN!
