What a great way to meet others in your orchestra!
Secret Snowman is voluntary but the Youth Committee hopes everyone participants. If you are not at Sunday's rehearsal download the details above to see you how can still participate.
Annual Summer Music Camp Fair
The Camp Fair is Sunday, January 5th from 1 to 4 pm in the atrium at City Hall. Parents, this is your chance to speak to the directors of multiple Summer Music Camp Programs. Students are also encouraged to stop by and meet the camp directors.

Also, several camps who are unable to send representatives have sent brochures.

The event is free and open to the public. Download the flyer to see who is sending a representative.
Thirteen musicians from Principal Orchestra performed in the Annual Concerto Competition on December 15th.

The winner of this year's competition is Woongki Hong. Woongki will perform the first movement of the Weber Clarinet Concerto in March with Principal Orch.

Midori Orchestra Residency Program (ORP)
Masterclass with Midori - Friday, May 8th . We are still in the planning stages of the ORP but we want to get started on the selection process for the masterclass. Three chamber groups, ie a quartet, trio, or quintet, will be selected; one group from Principal, Concert and Phil Strings. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at Sunday's rehearsal.

To participate in the masterclass please you must download the application and guidelines. Deadline to apply is Sunday, January 12th.

If rehearsal is canceled due to weather conditions you will be informed in the following manner.

  • A message will be posted to the NYS Facebook Page & Instagram Account
  • A NYS newsletter email will be sent.
  • Office phone message - 203-866-4100 - will be updated with a cancellation message.
  • NYS cell phone message - 203-984-2658 - will be updated with a cancellation message.
  • A message will be posted on home page of the NYS website.

Please remember that our musicians come from 30 different towns. If we do not cancel and the weather condition in your town is poor use your best judgement.
