LENT 2021
Our theme for Lent this year is based on the book The Common Rule: Habits of Purpose for an Age of Distraction by Justin Whitmel Earley.
The Common Rule has 2 main goals:
- To wake us up to the idea that we already have default patterns of everyday habits that are forming enormous parts of our spiritual lives, primarily unconsciously, and
-
To offer a path toward intentional spiritual formation that will enable us to more fully Walk in God’s Way and Serve in God’s World.
Here’s how to participate:
- Read the book – available through Indigo or Amazon We also have a few copies available at the church – please contact Kevin
-
Try The Common Rule habits
- Join Judy (Wednesdays at 1 pm) or Kevin (Wednesdays at 7 pm) for a Zoom group or form a group with some friends
-
Read the Daily Read & Reflect Scripture verses (in the Resource Package)
- Watch the videos and listen to the podcast (links are in the Resource Package)
- Go all in and do it all!
If you opt not to read the book, don’t worry – You can learn about The Common Rule habits by watching the videos!
You may choose to try one daily and one weekly habit each week and then put them all together in week 5, or you can add the new habits each week while continuing with the previous weeks’ habits.
Let’s all come together in common purpose by practicing these habits that will strengthen our faith and help us Walk in God’s Way and Serve in God’s World!
