Sunday Worship

Our guest priest will be The Rev. Wendy Porter Cade who is the Chaplain at St. Benedict's Episcopal School. Episcopal Schools Celebration celebrates the ministry of the nearly 1,200 Episcopal schools and early childhood education programs throughout the Episcopal Church. It is a time to give thanks and to proclaim the good news of one of St. Benedict's Church's outreach programs - your school!

See the video message below from our Presiding Bishop to Episcopal Schools.

In-Person Service of Morning Prayer

Sunday, October 18, 2020, 10:30 a.m.

We will hold an in-person gathering for 50 people (20 slots left) outside on the St. Benedict's upper parking lot. We will be using Daily Morning Prayer: Rite Two beginning on page 75, so bring your prayer book or download the Book of Common Prayer on your phone/tablet.

Please park in the lower parking lot close to the church building and walk up.  Bring a chair or blanket if you would like, wear a mask, and stay at least 8 feet from other people or family groups. Make your reservation below.

Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Prayers in the Nave

St. Benedict's Nave is open for prayers every Saturday from 10 - 12 and Sunday from 3 - 5  in 15 minute increments. Being in our beautiful Nave can be comfort and a joy for you and your family, and reconnect you with our wonderful parish family.

A reservation in advance is required. The reservation link is below. For safety's sake, there will be only one household per reserved time and you must wear a mask.  Our own Regathering Task Force has developed specific requirements to keep everyone safe. You must bring your own Book of Common Prayer or find it online here.
"I had missed every part of our sanctuary: the rich tones of the wood in the altar, the warmth of the sunshine streaming through the windows, the flowers above the altar, the lighted candles, and most of all the opportunity to be in God's house."
- Anna Best

Sundays 9:30 a.m.

This Sunday we continue our discussion of the St. Benedict's Church mission statement by talking about fellowship. What does the Bible say about fellowship, and what was the experience of the early church? We'll open up for discussion about our pandemic challenges, and what fellowship means to us.

A Zoom link will be in the Saturday email.
Coffee Hour

Sundays 11:30 a.m.

For the next few weeks during coffee hour, I will be posing a question to start our conversation. This week's question is:

"What is the latest book you have read?"
Give a short review during Coffee Hour.

I hope you will join me!

Faithfully,
Edith Woodling

St. Benedict's Finances

Although we have not been gathering in the church, we continue to rely on your generous giving to support our wonderful staff, our ministries, and to maintain a solid foundation into which we will soon welcome a new rector.

The current financial situation at St. Benedict's is not trending well.  Year to date we have received $254,000 on a budget of $358,000. Expenses are running below budget also which does help. Expenses year to date are $293,000 on a budget of $392,000.

If you are able to keep up your pledge or make loose offerings, there are three ways.

2. Mail a check to the church at 2160 Cooper Lake Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.
    The mail is checked regularly.

3. Set up automatic payments through your own bank.

We appreciate your prayers and all the ways you give to Christ's ministry.
