As of midnight on March 17 (Beijing Time), Chinese mainland reports 13 new infections of COVID-19 (including 12 imported cases) and 11 new deaths.

The overall confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 80,894 , including 8,056 patients ( 2,622 in serious condition ) still receiving medical treatment in hospital, 69,601 patients having been discharged after recovery, and 3,237 people died of the disease.

China's COVID-19 vaccines are expected to enter clinical trials soon, while vaccine safety has been a priority in research and development.

The medicine named Favipiravir has shown no obvious adverse reactions in the clinical trial. It can shorten the recovery time from 11 days to 4 days for mild and regular cases, and shorten fever duration from an averaged 4.2 days to 2.5 days.
