What to Expect and Ways to Reflect
 Dear FUMC family,
This Sunday, August 11th, is Campmeeting at FUMC. Come dressed casually as we sing the beloved hymns of our faith. I will be preaching on Hebrews 11:1-3,8-16. The Book of Hebrews defines faith as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”  Faith is strongest when all evidence is to the contrary. Are we living in an age of faith? In order to be an age of faith our Lord calls people of faith to hold firm to our faith as an example to others. I hope that you will join us.
In Christ,
PS, PLEASE prayerful consider your financial giving to our church during the summer months. We need your help!

August is Camp Meeting Month!
The circuit rider was a preacher on horseback. Along the frontiers of the developing United States in the 19th century, Methodism grew by moving from populated centers tto the outlying regions. It was the circuit riders who became the primary force in this advance. They bore the hardships of the rugged pioneer days in order to preach the gospel.
The circuit riders would go anywhere, no matter how difficult the traveling conditions; and they preached to any and all who would listen. Their courage and tenacity led to the saying that in blizzards and the roughest kin of weather "nobody was out but the crows and Methodist preachers."
One of the earliest and best known of the circuit riders was Francis Asbury. He traveled some 275,000 miles, mostly on horseback, spreading God's word wherever he went.
Sunday School Teachers Needed
Children's Sunday School Teachers are needed for the 2019-2020 school Year. Being a Children's Sunday School teacher is fun, rewarding and easy. Simply use the link below to choose your Sunday(s) and Mrs. Myers will send you the lesson a month before your scheduled time. Please feel free to contact Kim Myers with any questions about signing up. Thanks for volunteering to help spread God's Word to our FUMC kids!
Childcare Needed
Wonderful Wednesdays are right around the corner and we are busy making plans for a truly "wonderful" season. Stephanie Peters and Sandy Franks have agreed to be our chefs and, since they have young children, we will need volunteers to provide childcare from 2:00-5:15pm. If you are able to help, please contact Pastor Debra to sign up for a Wednesday afternoon.
We Love our College Students!
Our college students will be heading back to school soon!! For our new college students or those students that have changed addresses since the beginning of the last school year, please forward their contact information to our college ministry team. The team will then relay this information to different groups in our church so that we can keep in touch with our students and encourage them throughout the year. Please contact Jeannie Williams with your students information at 336-880-1243 or email her at luv2teach4preschool@gmail.com. Please be in prayer for all of our students, college or otherwise, as they begin the next school year!!
CROP Walk 2019

FUMC friends, please mark your calendars now for the 2019 Crop Walk.....September 22, 3:00. This is a great opportunity to help feed the hungry right here in High Point by only walking 1, 2 or 3 miles! FUMC will have our own team so will walk together which only adds to the fun. It is free to walk but we hope that you will consider donating or asking your family and/or friends to support you in this effort to be the hands and feet of Jesus. If you are not able to walk but would like to financially support Crop Walk, please send your check to Pat in the church office and mark it Crop Walk. Let’s have a HUGE FUMC team supporting this wonderful ministry!
Beginning August 1, Child Enrichment proudly joins Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program to help raise funds for our school. It’s easy and it’s FREE. Simply give the cashier our code, 4990, and your VIC card when you check out and your card will be linked for the entire school year. That’s it! You only have to link your VIC card once each school year. Once your card is linked, Child Enrichment will receive a percentage of your Harris Teeter brand (Harris Teeter, H.T. Traders, Harris Teeter Organics, HT Farmers Market and purchases in the HT Pharmacy) purchases credited back to our account. This program does not interfere with your VIC savings or cost you any money! Don’t forget to link your VIC card to our account code next time you are shopping at Harris Teeter.
