Crabbing and Clamming

Crabbing and clamming are great ocean activities any time of the year. Siletz Bay and Siletz River at the south edge of Lincoln City are prime spots for crabbing. The best time of day is an hour or two before or after high or low tide when the creatures are active and water currents disturb the crabs and gear the least.

All you need is a crab ring net or crab max, bait (chicken wings work), license, and a measuring gauge (they have to be a certain size), most of which can be obtained from Eleanor's Undertow on SW 51 St. You can do it from the shore or from a boat. The regulations for crabbing are posted on the Taft Dock on SW 51st, next to Mo's.

Eleanor's Undertow is open at 11 am, Thursday-Monday. For more info call (541)996-3800.

The Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife also has some great resources:

Theater West Live Play

Theatre West is Lincoln City's beloved community theatre, entertaining locals and visitors alike for decades. They have a great play for your trip here in March...

The Supporting Cast is a comedy by George Furth. The director is Bonnie Ross. Ellen, the wife of a successful author, has written a book about friends who are spouses of celebrities and what it is like to be married to "Somebody Famous". She has invited the friends to her house on the beach at Malibu to let them read advance copies and to break the news to them gently that they are depicted warts and all. All nearly have apoplexy when they read the book, but when the news arrives that the book is to be made into a movie, they change their tune and get excited about which star will play them.

The play runs March 1 through March 24, 2012. Call now to reserve your tickets at 541-994-5663. The theatre is small and cozy so don't wait! Or visit their website for more info www.theatrewest.com.
