UPDATE ........................................................

MY COMMENTS to my clients:

I want to thank my clients for reaching out to me this AEP 2024.

I have received your voicemails, emails, and some text messages.

I want you to know that as busy as this enrollment period is, I am trying to return all calls, emails, text messages in a first come first serve basis.

I am sorry for the delay in responding back to you.

So what can you expect?

If I have not caught up to you yet and you are still waiting for a call or email, I am continuing to return calls and emails as soon as I can AND in between daily client meetings.

If are waiting for the contract negotiations between Excellus BCBS, Family Care Medical Group and St Joes, I understand that there should be some announcement from Excellus this week (week of 11.18.2024; heard this from clients news reports).

If there is NO NEWS this week regarding the contract negotiations and these providers (Excellus BCBS, Family Care Medical Group, and St Joes) and these providers are NO LONGER in-network with each other, you will have to change plans by December 7th.

I do not have any time slots available from now until December 7th, unless I have a cancellation.

*********************

IF YOU RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THAT YOUR Medicare Advantage plan is ending (at the end of this year 12/31/2024) then you have an enrollment period and can still change your Medicare plan up until December 31st, 2024.

I do have appointments left and available after December 7th for those clients who have a Medicare Advantage plan that is ending 12/31/2024.

Please reach out to me for an appointment, scheduled after December 7th.

**********************

What is the good news?

There is another enrollment period called the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) which runs the first quarter of the year - January 1st to March 31st.

  • You can only change from a Medicare Advantage plan to another Medicare Advantage plan during this time.
  • You can also change from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare Supplement/Medigap plan

If you make a plan change in January your new Medicare Advantage plan starts February 1st.

If you make a plan change in February your new Medicare Advantage plan starts March 1st.

THOUGHT TO CONSIDER!!!

If you do wait to make a plan change with me in January 2025, you still have the Medicare Advantage plan from 2024 and are subject to any changes in that plan for 2025.

If you have a PPO plan and Family Care Medical Group and St. Joseph's DOES NOT agree to a contract with Excellus BCBS or Aetna for 2025 you would be out-of network and be subject to higher copays or

co-insurance in 2025.

If you have an HMO plan, there is NO out-of-network coverage with HMO plans and you would pay all the medical cost, if the contracts are not agreed to for 2025.

Also, I understand that Humana does not have Upstate Hospital

in-network for 2025.

SOLUTION!

This is doable, but if you do wait to make a plan change in 2025 you would be out-of-network WITH A PPO PLAN (if the contracts don't get signed for 2025) and you might have to pay the total bill upfront and seek reimbursement from the carrier (insurance company) minus your copay or coinsurance.

This would NOT work with HMO Medicare Advantage plan because there is NO out-of-network coverage.

IF YOUR MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN IS ENDING BY DECEMBER 31st, 2024 - YOU HAVE UNTIL DECEMBER 31st, 2024 TO MAKE A PLAN CHANGE FOR 2025. (instead of the cut off date of December 7th).

IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO CHANGE YOUR MEDICARE PLAN AND HAVE NOT REACHED OUT TO ME, OR CHANGED YOUR MEDICARE PLAN YOURSELF, OR USED ANOTHER AGENT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CLIENTS ARE STILL MY CLIENTS MOVING FORWARD. I WOULD APPRECIATE THIS. I AM WORKING HARD FOR ALL OF YOU.

Your enrollment business and enrollment changes with ME is how I get paid.

APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS!!

Theresa Cangemi
