HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

If you miss the December 7^th deadline there is another enrollment period January, February, and March of 2026, BUT, you have to already be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan to be able to change to another Medicare Advantage plan. Please call me to schedule you for a January, February, or March appointment.

2026 Federal Poverty Levels / Guidelines & How They Determine Medicaid Eligibility

How the Federal Poverty Levels Impact Medicaid Eligibility, 2026:

The Federal Poverty Levels (FPLs) are used by about half the states to set the income eligibility criteria for their Regular Medicaid / Aged Blind and Disabled (ABD) programs.

Fewer states use the FPL or a percentage of them, to set their income limits for Nursing Home Medicaid and their HCBS Waivers, most notably are California and New York. 

While the numbers are released in January, some states make their criteria retroactive to Jan. 1 while others make their changes over the next few months. 

NEW YORK:

For program questions or for application assistance, persons can call the Medicaid Helpline at 1-800-541-2831. One’s local Area Agency on Aging office may also be helpful in answering program questions and assisting persons with applying for Medicaid. 

FLORIDA:

For additional information or application assistance, persons can contact their Department of Children and Families (DCF) Customer Service Center or the DCF Application Center at 1-866-762-2237.
