Adopt an Animal

Every year, the Valley Forge First graders adopt a rain forest animal at the Philadelphia Zoo. By adopting an animal, we help provide the care and food the animal requires throughout the year. When the first grade students visit the zoo for their yearly field trip, they search the zoo to find this special animal.

This year the zoo has given us the chance to choose  which animal to adopt, so we thought we would open the opportunity up to the entire VFE  community! Starting February 1, 2016 Valley Forge Elementary students can begin to vote for the animal they would like to adopt.

How do you make your vote count? It's easy! During the weeks of 2/1/16 and 2/8/16 simply put money in the jar with the picture of the animal you choose on the front. The animal that earns the most money/votes will be adopted by VFES!

Teacher Spotlight

In our ongoing series of Teacher Spotlights, this week's Spotlight is on Mr. Collins, Team Facilitator for  4th grade.  He is a favorite among the 4th grade students and you can see the respect in their eyes when  they talk about him.  If you take a look at his Teacher Page, the first thing you see is a picture of Sarge  and the quote "Adjust, Adapt and Overcome" which I know is a common theme in our house too!  Enjoy  this week's Teacher Spotlight!

T&E Care Nickels for Nonprofits Program

Tredyffrin & Easttown Care is a local non-profit that supports families in our own neighborhoods who might be struggling due to an emergency or financial situation.

The Whole Foods in Devon has selected T&E Care to be one of their recipients for the
January 18-April 17 Nickels for Nonprofits Program. This program allows customers to donate their 5ยข bag refund to local nonprofit organizations instead of receiving it themselves. If you shop at Whole Foods, and you bring your own bags, then please be sure to mention T&E Care when you check out. If you don't say anything, then T&E Care won't get your nickel! A year ago when T&E Care received this recognition it received almost $1000 from Whole Foods - so those nickels really do add up. Thanks to Whole Foods for supporting these fundraising efforts.
