Sandy Springs Launches “Inside Sandy Springs”
Week in Review Video Series
This year, Sandy Springs launched Inside Sandy Springs, a video series to bring residents and visitors alike an overview of the news, projects, and updates underway in the city. These video updates are released every Friday afternoon and posted to the City’s social media on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. This month, you can see updates on sidewalk and pothole repairs, recaps of City sponsored events, and highlights of important City Council actions. View the series on our YouTube page and subscribe so you don’t miss a thing!

The City's Resumes Art Exhibitions in City Hall
|
|
|
City Hall's lobby will once again look like an art gallery with the return of the public art exhibitions on Feb. 16, with a reception that evening from 6-8 p.m. The current show will feature artist, Lorraine Christie and will be on display through the beginning of May. Christie is a local artist who primarily works with palette knife and brush to create the smooth yet impasto style unique to her work. Her paintings have been on display globally.

Roswell Road Access Management Plan
|

The Roswell Road Access Management Plan has recommended several priority projects to address access management and safety issues on the most critical segments of Roswell Road. The Draft Plan Recommendations will be presented at an upcoming City Council Work Session. To view these recommendations, please visit the project webpage.

City to Host Public Open House
Regarding Nancy Creek Declared Sensitive Area

The open house will provide the community the opportunity to review the proposed stormwater text amendments to the Nancy Creek Declared Sensitive Area. There will not be a formal presentation, but City of Sandy Springs representatives will be available to discuss the proposed amendments and answer questions.

Trees Atlanta Front Yard Tree Program

Last chance to request free front yard trees this season! Sandy Spring homeowners may receive up to three trees planted in their front yards, free of charge.

Are you a resident of Fulton County with a septic system? Join Fulton County Public Works, the Fulton County Board of Health, and other municipalities in Fulton County for a virtual septic system education workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. Participants will learn about the parts of a septic system, helpful tips for maintenance, and when to call a septic system professional. Celebrate Black History Month

Mark your calendars for two dance events presented in partnership with the Sandy Springs Arts Foundation. There will be Open House Community Dance Classes Saturdays, Feb. 11 and 18 from 4-6 p.m. at Dance it Off on Sandy Springs Circle. These classes are free for Sandy Springs residents. Dine Like a Local Program!

Visit Sandy Springs, the destination marketing organization for the City launched its new Dine Like a Local program. Those who sign up online, will lock in their free digital passport, which will serve as an insider’s guide to our dining scene. Now through March 31, diners will have the opportunity to curate and track their dining experiences, while also earning points that they can redeem for entries into prize giveaways. Celebrate Leadership Sandy Springs 35th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 7-11 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at City Springs. The evening's theme is Old Hollywood Glamour and the event will feature hors d'oeuvres, auctions, and entertainment.

Mark your Calendar for the Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance!
|
|
|
Only a few spots remain for the annual date night of the year - the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks 13th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance! Saturday, Feb. 4 from 6-8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at City Springs. The dance will feature music from both dad’s (and father figures) and their daughter’s favorite playlists. In addition to dancing, there will be plenty of fun activities that include dance contests, musical games, snacks and refreshments. Please note: NO WALK-UPS, participants must pre-register.

A Healthy Forest Begins Underground

Protecting a forest doesn’t just mean preserving the canopy, it also includes the soil in which the forest is planted! Tree roots are very specialized tools that extract water and nutrients from the ground. Celebrate Georgia Arbor Day on Feb. 17 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at Lost Corner's Outdoor Classroom (Covered Pavilion) with a lecture and interpretive hike.

Bring the entire family out for a night of stargazing with the Atlanta Astronomy Club on Monday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. The club will have telescopes set up to observe the nighttime sky and will point out interesting constellations and objects, and answer questions about astronomy. Each season is different, so we invite you to come to all four events to see all the sky has to offer. Please note: all events are weather permitting.

Superstar Dance for Teens and Adults with Disabilities
|
|
|
It’s prom time for people with developmental or physical disabilities, and every attendee will be crowned prom king and queen! A DJ will play dance music, food and refreshments are on the menu, and participants will take home a souvenir photo and goody bag.
