Sandy Springs Fire Station 5 is Now Open | | |

The City of Sandy Springs today celebrated the grand opening of Sandy Springs Fire Station 5, located at 7800 Mount Vernon Road at the corner of Spalding Drive. The new, 10,912 square-foot, two-story facility now serves the City’s Panhandle region. Mayor Rusty Paul, City Council, City Manager Eden Freeman, and Fire Chief Keith Sanders were joined by Station 5 crew for the ceremonial hose uncoupling. | | |

GDOT Public Hearing Open House Series
Marking the start of their official public comment period, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is hosting a series of open houses in various municipalities. The Sandy Springs event is scheduled for July 18 from 4-7 p.m. in City Springs.

The City is proud to announce the launch of its new web-based mobile platform for Sandy Springs Works that replaces the existing app for submitting non-emergency requests and reports. OpenGov: The City's New Online Permitting Portal

Attend the next BUILD: SANDY SPRINGS seminar to learn about the City's new online permitting portal.
Please note: The transition to the new platform will require a significant amount of time to migrate the data and files into the new system. The permitting portal will be down for existing and active permits beginning on Friday, June 28, reopening on Monday, July 8. All online and in-person permitting transactions, including scheduling of inspections, Certificates of Occupancy or Completion, payments for permitting, and Plan Reviews will be unavailable during this time.

Because new permit submittals will not require migration and mapping of new data, the OpenGov portal will be available to accept all new permit types beginning on Wednesday, July 3. To hear from the City's Community Development office on what changes to expect, please watch this video.
The seminar is free and is strongly recommended for anyone doing work that requires a permit in Sandy Springs. Attend in-person at City Hall or virtually.

The Gallery at City Springs | | |

The next time you're at City Hall, checkout the current exhibit featuring Debra Nadelhofer's beautiful oil and pastel paintings. Debra is the former seven-year President of the Southeastern Pastel Society, she taught weekly classes at Chastain Arts Center for 14 years and currently teaches Oil Painting at the Abernathy Arts Center here in Sandy Springs. Her art will be installed on July 9 and the opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, August 8 from 6-8 p.m. This exhibit will run through September and the Gallery will be open during City Hall's business hours. | |

Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or a first-timer, A.M. Crush Hour will help jump start your Tuesdays and Thursdays with a coach-led exercise program. Workouts include, but are not limited to, bodyweight, medicine ball, jump ropes, agility ladders and more! It doesn’t matter if you have never worked out before or you are looking for that next step in your fitness journey, there is something for everyone! This is a free exercise program, but you should register to secure your spot!

Story yoga classes, where simple yoga poses are accompanied by engaging songs, puppets, and carefully selected stories that naturally lend themselves to yoga movements. Parent/caregiver and me yoga classes, where caregivers partner with their child in fun, animated poses. They’ll bark in downward dog, hiss in cobra pose, and flutter our butterfly wings as we balance, stretch, sing, and play.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. FIT4MOM is the nation’s leading prenatal and postnatal fitness program, providing fitness classes and a network of moms to support every stage of motherhood. From pregnancy, through postpartum and beyond, their fitness and wellness programs help make moms strong in body, mind, and spirit. The maximum participation is 20.

Bird Walk at Overlook Park

Morgan Falls Overlook Park boasts several habitats, and thus a large variety of birds over the course of the year: mudflats (shorebirds, including Avocets in 2017), lake (winter ducks, nesting Bald Eagles), river, woodland, and field (sparrows). The walk will involve (possibly wet) grass, stairs, gently sloped pavement, and unpaved trails. A scope and loaner binoculars will be available.
