Martin Luther King, Jr. Art & Film Celebration

The community is invited to join on Monday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. for the City's annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This family-friendly event will feature interactive art projects and a film designed to celebrate, educate, and share the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dine Like a Local

Visit Sandy Springs, the destination marketing organization for the City is bringing back its popular Dine Like a Local program. Those who sign up online, will lock in their free digital passport, which will serve as an insider’s guide to our dining scene. Now through March 31, diners will have the opportunity to curate and track their dining experiences, winning a variety of prizes for participating. Skate City Springs

Take the holidays and winter festivities into extra innings with Skate City Springs! The ice-skating season will run through Jan. 21. Each session will cost $15 per adult and $13 for children ages 2-10, including skate rentals.

The Gallery at City Springs

DAKORO'S EXHIBIT AND ARTIST RECEPTION

Beginning Jan. 10, there will be a new exhibit in the Gallery at City Springs featuring the work of Dakoro, an abstract expressionism painter. Please make a point of visiting this exciting exhibit the next time you are at City Springs. The exhibit is open during City Hall's hours. Mark your calendar to meet the artist at a reception on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at City Hall.

Mount Vernon Highway and Johnson Ferry Intersection Improvements

This TSPLOST-funded improvement project will improve vehicular and pedestrian mobility and reduce congestion by alleviating the bottleneck conditions for east-west traffic on Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway and north-south traffic on Roswell Road. Both roads will be widened to each contain eastbound and westbound lanes. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in early 2024.

Update: Nancy Creek Streambank Restoration Work to Begin January

Construction at Windsor Meadows Park to stabilize Nancy Creek’s streambank and improve stormwater quality is scheduled to begin after the first of the year. Once the work has started, the park will be closed to the public for 6-8 weeks, depending on stream conditions, streambank stability and weather. Expect the pedestrian bridge across Nancy Creek to be closed during work hours.

Trees Atlanta Front Yard Program

The City is proud to continue its Front Yard Tree Program in partnership with Trees Atlanta. Eligible residents can get up to three front yard trees planted this winter or next spring free of charge. Visit treesatlanta.org/yardtree for details and to reserve your trees.

Feeling Creative?

Kids Paint Like Bob Ross

Now kids (ages 8-12) can also join in on the Bob Ross painting fun! The Bob Ross company recently introduced a kid-friendly line of acrylic paints and smaller paint brushes for smaller hands. Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at Hammond Park.
