City Hosting Celebration of Life for Former Fire Chief McElfish
The City will pay a tribute to former Chief Jack McElfish who passed away last month. Chief McElfish led the Sandy Springs Fire Department from its inception in 2006 to his retirement in 2014, bringing with him decades of experience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. The memorial service will take place Monday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. in Byers Theatre at City Hall.

Public Meeting
The community is invited to learn more about the upcoming Long Island Drive at Mount Vernon Highway intersection improvement project designed to enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the Barfield Conference Room at City Hall.

The Mayor and City Council meet every first and third Tuesday of the month in the City Hall. Other monthly meetings include Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, ChatComm TAC and Authority Board, Board of Ethics and the bi-monthly Tourism Board meetings.

Bird Walk

Morgan Falls Overlook Park boasts several habitats, and thus a large variety of birds over the course of the year. We will begin at Overlook Park - walk past the playground and across the lawn to the overlook - then we will walk the road below to Morgan Falls Dam.

Mushroom Mania at Lost Corner Preserve

Recent studies have revealed that mushrooms provide communication paths between plants in a forest and are critical to the health of an ecosystem. Naturalist and Environmental Educator, Roseanne Guerra will introduce us to mushroom identification, including the most common edible and non-edible mushrooms in our area.
