Community Affairs

Boston honored Argentina's Independence Day

On the eve of Argentina's Independence Day, the Consulate General joined the Argentine community in Boston for a moving ceremony that marked the beginning of the commemorations.

During the event, the City of Boston presented a proclamation in honor of Argentina's Independence Day. Consul General Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé highlighted the values of freedom that inspired Argentina's independence, the Argentine community's contribution to strengthening ties between Argentina and the United States, and the special significance of the visit of the ARA Libertad to Boston as part of the commemorations of the independence anniversaries of both nations.

The Consulate General also expressed its gratitude to the City of Boston and to Argentinos en Boston for making this meaningful celebration possible.

Argentina's Independence Day in Long Island

The Consulate General joined the annual Argentina’s Independence Day Celebration in Nassau County, Long Island, organized by the Comité Cívico Argentino in partnership with Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman and the Nassau County Office of Hispanic Affairs (CASA).

The event brought together members of the Argentine community, local authorities, and friends of Argentina to celebrate our national holiday, showcase Argentina’s rich cultural heritage, and recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions to the community. The Consulate congratulates all organizers for another successful celebration, which once again reflected the strong ties of friendship between Argentina and Long Island.

ARA "Libertad" joined Sail4th 250 celebrations

The ARA Fragata Libertad, Argentina's iconic tall ship and "Ambassador of the Seas," participated in Sail4th 250, one of the signature events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States.

The ARA Libertad called at New York (July 4–8) and Boston (July 11–16), where she was welcomed by Argentina's Consul General in New York, Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé, and Argentina's Naval Attaché to the United States, Rear Admiral Raúl Osvaldo Chiñi, who greeted Commanding Officer Jorge Gabriel Cáceres and the ship's crew at both ports.

During her visits to New York and Boston, the ARA Libertad carried out official engagements and welcomed thousands of visitors aboard, including members of the Argentine community who took part in special guided tours. In New York, the ship hosted an official reception presided over by Argentina's Ambassador to the United States, Alejandro Oxenford, and the Commanding Officer. In Boston, a second official reception was co-hosted by the Consul Generaland the Commanding Officer.

Her participation in these commemorative events reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Argentina and the United States and the shared values of freedom, cooperation, and mutual respect that continue to strengthen bilateral ties.

Consular services

Online appointment system a for

Life Proof Certificates (remote)

The online appointment system allows citizens to schedule appointments for remote (non-presential) Life Proof Certificates, providing greater convenience for those who require this service without having to visit the Consulate in person.

As previously communicated, this system also remains available for consular services that require RENAPER’s intervention —specifically DNI and passport applications— and has become a key tool in streamlining access to these high-demand services, and will continue to be progressively expanded to incorporate additional consular procedures. The system is also accesible from our newly available virtual assistant, Tina, who will help you on visiting our updated website.

For DNI, passport, and Life Proof Certificates, Argentine citizens are reminded that appointments must be requested exclusively through our official website:

https://cnyor.cancilleria.gob.ar/es/turnos-online

Kindly note that, for security reasons, in person assistance will be provided by appointment only and visitors are requested to attend unaccompanied.

Given the high number of unattended appointments, we kindly remind citizens who have booked and confirmed a slot to arrive on the scheduled date and time. If unable to attend, we respectfully ask that you notify us in advance so the appointment may be reassigned, allowing us to better serve the community as a whole.

Congratulations to the new Argentine citizens!

Through Layers

by Alexandra Arata

Through Layers is a solo exhibition by Argentine artist Alexandra Arata, exploring the dialogue between transparency and depth, fragility and strength. Her works, known for their airy textures and fluid forms, reveal the subtle power that emerges from what is not immediately seen, from the spaces between layers.

Through Layers is an invitation to pause and experience stillness within complexity. It celebrates the beauty of transparency as a symbol of honesty and vulnerability, and the strength found in the process of building, one layer at a time.

Life aboard Argentine Navy's tall ship "Libertad"

The exhibition offered an intimate look at daily life aboard Argentina's iconic training ship, highlighting the dedication, camaraderie, and spirit of service that define its crew. During the opening, Consul General Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé underscored the ARA Libertad's enduring role as one of Argentina's foremost ambassadors abroad, while Guillermo Hariyo shared highlights of his career and reflected on his experiences documenting life at sea.

The exhibition paid tribute to the ARA Libertad's historic visit to New York, which included her participation in the Sail4th 250 celebrations, public open-ship days attended by thousands of visitors, and an official reception aboard.

Lacuna: Remastered is a genre-defying performance piece in which a writer named C. descends into her own subconscious to recover the fragments of a life and an artistic process in pieces. Guided by Virgilia, a Commedia dell'arte trickster in the spirit of a 70s talk show host, and Memi, a cellist who wages a quiet war between music and memory, C. wanders through her own past as the audience decides which memories she revisits first.

Drawing on over 30 years of real archival footage, chalk-drawn timelines, and the circular logic of Dante's Inferno, the show asks: what does it mean to create when you can't remember who you are? Part circus, part nightmare, part love letter to the creative struggle, Lacuna: Remastered is theatre as excavation: messy, funny, and achingly alive.

Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet

The Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet brings together world-class musicians to explore the rich tradition and contemporary possibilities of Argentine tango.

Led by bassist and composer Pedro Giraudo, the quartet approaches tango from a chamber music perspective — each musician a virtuoso in their own right, listening deeply and responding to one another with precision and spontaneity. Their repertoire spans traditional tango, nuevo tango, and original contemporary compositions, reflecting the full arc of a living, evolving art form. The result is a performance that is both deeply rooted in Argentina’s tango legacy and charged with a fresh, modern voice.
