Argentina present at Hispanic Parades in New Jersey and Manhattan

This October, the Consulate General of Argentina in New York proudly joined two vibrant celebrations of Hispanic heritage!

On October 5, the Consul General Amb. Gerry Diaz Bartolomé marched in the traditional Hispanic Parade in New Jersey, filling the streets with music, color, and joy. A week later, on October 12, he also joined the Hispanic Parade in Manhattan—another remarkable tribute to our shared roots and traditions.

We celebrated with pride the cultural richness of Argentina and the spirit that unites our community. A heartfelt thank-you to the many Argentine organizations and to all our compatriotas who joined us wearing our national colors!

Welcoming the Escuela Argentina en New York

at our Consulate

On Saturday October 18, the Argentine School of New York (Escuela Argentina en New York) held its classes at our Consulate, and we enjoyed a truly special day! It was a great opportunity for the students to learn more about Argentina’s presence abroad and the work we do here in New York.

During their visit, they toured different areas of the Consulate, learned what each section does, discovered the flags of all Argentine provinces, and created a large map featuring all of them.

We congratulate the school for its outstanding work in promoting the Spanish language, Argentine culture, and community spirit among students from many countries, and we especially thank the teachers and families who joined and supported this wonderful experience.

Art & Culture

The Consulate General of Argentina in New York

presents

Magdalena Murua

Magdalena Murua creates intricate collages from fragments of comic books like Hulk, Batman, and Archie, transforming them into abstract, geometric, and op-art compositions. From a distance, her works pulse with optical rhythm; up close, they reveal a dense network of perforated and reimagined cultural imagery. Her process balances precision and spontaneity. While invisible lines and golden ratios organize the surface, intuition and chance ultimately guide the final form.

As comic books, one of Murua’s childhood joys, fade as a cultural medium, she reclaims them to share that same sense of wonder and delight with others. In her hands, familiar fragments shed their original meanings, taking on new spiritual and playful resonance, becoming vibrant fields where nostalgia, structure, and imagination coexist (Adam Adelson)

Cloe Galasso's "Unfolding" solo exhibition presents a body of abstract work that draws on the principles of Chinese metaphysics, where emptiness and form, light and shadow, move in constant dialogue. Her canvases suggest not a fixed image but a state of becoming—shapes dissolving, energies unfolding, and fragments finding new coherence. What emerges is less a representation than a meditation, an invitation to witness transformation in its most elemental state.

The works carry a quiet intensity, asking viewers to pause and sense the cycles of rupture and rebirth at play within themselves. In their depth and abstraction, they point toward the universal: the courage to let go of what has been, and the mystery of what waits to take form.

Open Monday - Friday from 9am to 1pm & 2 to 5pm

12 west 56th St. - New York - NY, 10019.

Art recap

A night of passion and contemplation:

Two Argentine artists; two worlds in dialogue

On October 2, the Consulate General of Argentina in New York opened its doors to an evening where art became a bridge between tradition and transformation. Our galleries came alive with the debut of two remarkable exhibitions: “De América” by Paula Morando and “Unfolding” by Cloe Galasso—a visual journey that travels from Argentina’s vibrant national symbols to the meditative depths of abstraction.

In the Gallery Room, Paula Morando’s works honor the emblems that shape the Argentine spirit and collective memory: the fiery red ceibo flower, the ever-present hornero bird, the enduring presence of the Malvinas Islands, and the historic coat of arms of Argentina. Her pieces speak of roots, identity, and a profound connection to the land.

In the Library Room, Cloe Galasso’s “Unfolding” invites us into a world of quiet contemplation. Her abstract series explores cycles of transformation—moments of dissolution and renewal—drawing inspiration from metaphysical philosophy and the delicate interplay of form and emptiness. Her paintings create spaces for stillness and reflection, encouraging us to embrace change with openness and grace.
