The Sands 2022 is a non-refundable event. Things happen in life, and we can't encourage people enough to purchase Travel Insurance. Our office frequently hears inconvenienced guests say they would have gotten their money back had they purchased travel insurance.

To help out, The Sands office has compiled information and a list of top-rated travel insurance companies for our guests so that you can purchase travel insurance with ease and be covered in case of an unexpected event.

First, before you purchase travel insurance from a third party, check with the credit card institution you used to book your travel arrangements. Some credit card companies include travel insurance with your specific membership benefits. Also, some credit card companies have offers for travel insurance at a lower or discounted cost. For example, American Express offers plans for both card and non-cardholders.

Second, make sure to purchase insurance as soon as possible. We suggest within 14 days of purchasing for the event. Many companies have a statute of limitations, and the earlier you can buy the insurance, the better offers and more options you will receive.

Please make sure to read all of the coverage for the offered plans. Some companies will cover cancellation whereas others will not. Compare plans to find what works best for you.

Regarding COVID-19: Most travel insurance companies consider Covid-19 an illness and it's treated the same as any illness would be. Please double-check with the provider to make sure Covid-19 is covered. Please note that trip cancellation for concern or fear of travel associated with sickness, epidemic, or pandemic (including Coronavirus) is not covered as a general matter. 

Some travel companies offer "cancel-for-any-reason" policies. If you are interested in this, please check with the provider as many policies differ.
