Sunday School Reminder

There are 3 weeks left in our church basics course and we'll be discussing Baptist history, Northminster history, and how we worship. 

This course is designed to answer questions for those who didn't grow up in the church or are new to Northminster. We're meeting in the Sanctuary at 10. I hope you'll join us!  - Jillian

Week 2 of Pastor Jillian's 3-week preaching series,

"Jesus was Political, not Partisan"

Ezekiel 46:3, 2 Kings 15:5, Malachi 3:8-9, John 15:3-4 and Matthew 18:21-35

The Opening Hymn: Rejoice, You Pure in Heart This hymn, inspired by Philippians 4:4, was written for the Choral Festival held at Peterborough Cathedral in England. The author was an Anglican priest and a professor of theology at Oxford University.

The Middle Hymn: Come to Tend God's Garden John Dalles is the author of more than 200 hymn texts. This one was written for the 275th anniversary of the Synod of the Trinity where Dalles has served as a pastor at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA.



The Anthem: Come, Thou Fount arranged by Craig Courtney and set to the tune NETTLETON.

The Communion Anthem: Psalm 103: Bless the Lord, My Soul by James Mulholland and arranged by D.H. Clark.

The Closing Hymn: O God, Our Help in Ages Past Watts, minister of a Congregational church in London, wrote theological and philosophical works and hundreds of "hymns of human composition." He augmented the congregational singing of psalms with a new style of hymnody.

PUB THEOLOGY

Northminster's Pub Theology meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Fat Pelican at 7pm.

5TH SUNDAY LUNCH AUGUST 31

Our next 5th Sunday lunch will be held at Jo-El's at 903 N. 4th Street on August 31 after worship. They will have a Northminster table set up for us in a back room, so we need to know how many plan on attending. Please see the sign-up sheet in the hall. Let's make this "true" 5th Sunday gathering like the "good ole days!" See you there!
