Message from the Executive Director

As we enter the final days of summer in Alberta, I feel a deep sense of gratitude as the summer of 2023 has been amazing! A big thank you to Kelly and her summer staff team for ensuring campers and their family members were able to enjoy the magic of Camp again this year. It was great to see so many familiar faces as well as new ones over the past 3 months enjoying sunny day activities at our facility. The memories are endless and cherished by our campers. Days were filled with Lake Isle barge rides, climbing to the top of our wall, shooting arrows, making putts, catching fish, and singing some of their favourite camps songs to name a few of the activities. We are grateful for each of you that made our summer camp programs possible this year!

Thank you to each of our generous donors that make Camp Health, Hope & Happiness on Lake Isle possible for individuals with special needs. We absolutely could not do it without your support!

Stay Well

"Camp is a wonderful place for my daughter. It provides her with an opportunity to be with other kids, and it is the one place I can leave her and know that she is in a safe environment." -Lori

"My son participated in the camp on July 9th. It was his first summer camp ever, and he loved it. I haven't seen him so happy and eager to go back, with his self-esteem boosted.

We live in Calgary, and it was totally worth driving for over 3 hours for our son to have this experience."

Day Trippin' at He Ho Ha

Day camps are in full swing here and we are loving every minute of having campers back onsite!

We know it hasn't been the same but we can tell that our campers are enjoying every minute and it is great to be able to interact with so many caregivers and show them just how special Camp He Ho Ha truly is.

Feedback like the one we received above is why we do what we do at Camp He Ho Ha. If we can make the difference in one campers day, week, month or year then we know we succeeded!

We only have 1 weekend left and we will be sad to see our campers leave for the summer.

Stay tuned for updates for Camp 2024!

Why do we donated to Camp He Ho Ha?

Our answers are both simple, and complex. In the first instance, we recognize the important needs being addressed by the Charity and the dedicated management of Greg, Kelly, and Joan.

We believe that as a person moves through career preparation into their productive years; and accumulates surplus wealth, that when they reach their retirement phase of life, they will recognize an obligation to give back to their community. For us, that has evolved as support for the important arts sector of Edmonton and for Camp He Ho Ha.

Complexity enters in our choosing of who we will support. First and foremost in our thinking is how well the organization is serving society and meeting social needs. How are they managed, and therefore how well our support is used in meeting those goals. These are high on our list of requirements. Personal contact with decision makers is also important to us. We recognize that there are many successful organizations who meet our qualifications, but we have a budget that we rigidly adhere to. We monitor those whom we support, and may adjust the level of yearly support as we yearly evaluate each entity.

We view that providing an outdoor summer recreation event for under-privileged and under-served people is an important service to them and their families. Such service providers require significant funding and desperately need help from private donors.  Our family has never been touched by the difficulties and restrictions suffered by these campers; Instead by contrast, we have enjoyed good health and opportunities for our own advancement.  An important aspect therefore of our giving back to our community is to help fund Camp He Ho Ha and the dedicated people who operate it. When we visit the Camp, the enthusiasm and joy shown by each camper is a celebration shared with us.

We hope that our dedication to this Charity will be an inspiration for others to follow.
