MADHUMATI SEVVANA
Dr. Madhumati Sevvana (Madhu) is a virology researcher in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University. Madhu uses structural virology methods to decode host-pathogen interactions and neutralization mechanisms of RNA viruses with a goal of developing structure-based therapeutics and vaccines. She studied biochemistry in India (@HydUniv), graduated as a structural biologist at the Max Planck Research School (@mpi_bpc) and University of Goettingen (@uniGoettingen) in Germany and continued her postdoctoral education in Southern Germany before she moved to Purdue University (@LifeAtPurdue) in 2016.

Madhu has been volunteering for Sci-ROI (@sciROI) since February 2021. She was introduced to Sci-ROI via an exceptionally informative “cryo-EM in India” webinar organized in December 2020. Madhu is inspired by Sci-ROI’s vision of connecting STEM researchers in the U.S. to Indian academia (and industry). Her work will primarily focus on Sci-ROI’s academic outreach in Europe to facilitate accessing STEM opportunities in India and contribute towards Indo-European collaborative avenues. In addition, she is part of Sci-ROI’s social media team and is interested in organizing events on successful academia to industry transition.
