I am currently a postdoc in Stanford University investigating the gut microbiome and their impact on the host. I obtained my PhD in 2020 from UCSD where I investigated the workings of macromolecular complexes in bacteria using cryo-electron microscopy.
In 2013, I found a life-long mentor in Prof. Aseem Ansari when I was awarded the Khorana scholarship. That's how I was acquainted with Sci-ROI. In 2020, I attended Sci-ROI’s virtual annual meeting and was instantly taken by the idea of connecting the Indian diaspora to peers at home. I became eager to contribute to this budding organization which has the potential to make great strides in not only helping to foster connections between the Indian diaspora to professional opportunities in India but also showcase and critically empower the science and technology sector in India to the rest of the world.
With this thought in mind, I organized the "Cryo-electron microscopy in India" webinar with Sci-ROI in December 2020 to engage students and post-docs carrying out cryo-EM research abroad in a dialogue with the cryo-EM community in India. I officially joined the core team in Feb 2021 to as a part of the blogging and the social media team.
