Upcoming Brazos Valley Events

Come join us for an SCBWI Brazos Valley Create Date!


It can be hard to set aside time from our busy lives to create. So allow us to give you the perfect excuse to pencil in some "butt in chair" time!

This meeting will include a mix of interactive activities to get your creative juices flowing and quiet time to get some writing & drawing done. Virtual guests are welcome to join in via Zoom.

Brazos Valley SCBWI is pleased to announce two scholarships for the 2023 SCBWI Austin Conference held in person April 29-30. Scholarship applications will close March 31st at midnight CST. Winners will be drawn at random and announced on April 1st. This application is simple and should take less than 10 minutes to fill out.


Austin SCBWI's popular Writers & Illustrators Working Conference is back in-person! And it's packed full of great sessions. The amazing faculty includes 2 agents, 3 editors and an art director, plus creatives like award-winning authors Linda Sue Park and e.E. Charlton-Trujillo and picture book and graphic novel illustrator Shannon Wright. Get inspired, boost your craft, get feedback on your work, and pitch agents and editors. The Texas Library Association convention is in Austin this year, on April 19-21. You have the opportunity to sign and sell or giveaway your books at our booth. You can also volunteer to help out. Please check your inbox for an email with more extensive information on TLA from Austin SCBWI sent March 3rd, subject:Book Promotion Opportunities at TLA


Also, if you had a book out in 2022/23 or coming out in 2023you can submit it through this form and we will do out best to get the word out to librarians about your book.

We can still promote you even if you can't participate in TLA!


You can send us SWAG to put into bags we’re planning to give away to librarians. You do not have to be signing at TLA to send SWAG for the bags. You may include 1 piece of SWAG, for example: 1 bookmark, 1 postcard, 1 sticker, OR 1 flyer. Send up to 200 pieces of SWAG to us at P.O. Box 7532, Round Rock, TX 78683 before April 1 to be included in the bags.

Want to be a guest speaker?

We’re always looking for guest speakers for our monthly meetings. If you’re passionate about a specific kid-lit related topic, feel free to pitch it to us! Guests can present in person or via Zoom and receive $50 compensation as well as lunch after our meeting. Presentations take place on the last Saturday of the month from 10am-11am and can be in the format of workshops, interviews, slideshows… you name it! Pitch us your ideas at brazosvalley-ra@scbwi.org

Your event login information will be emailed to the email address on file in your SCBWI account.
