Mark your calendar for our next Wood County Prevention Coalition/Addiction Task Force meeting: Friday, March 22, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. This meeting will be held at the Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 North Research Drive, Bowling Green, OH 43402.

Meeting notices will be sent out, but please invite others to attend as well. Those not on our email distribution list should contact Tina Bradley at tbradley@wcesc.org to be added. All are welcome!

Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Grant Updates

Coalition members and staff served on the Planning Committee for the October 28 Addiction Task Force Prescription Drug Take Back Day at Wooster Green in Bowling Green. Coalition Director Kyle Clark and Coordinator Tina Bradley promoted this event beforehand on the Morning Show alongside Coalition member and Morning Show host/our Media Sector Leader Clint Corpe. Our Coalition also supplied Deterra and Why Animals Don't Smoke Activity books for the event.

The Coalition participated in the Bowling Green State University Health Fair and Teaching Kitchen Expo in October 2023. Bowling Green State University's Center for Women and Gender Equity was there as well--giving out the prescription drug lock boxes and Deterra we recently provided them. We love our community partnerships!

India McCullough, last semester's talented BGSU student intern, created for the Coalition wonderful media content (including the fabulous video above), and edited several podcasts for the Coalition this past fall.

Our December 8 meeting was well-attended and such a success!

Meet Our Coalition's Executive Leadership Team!

Our Executive and Sector Leadership Committee voted to approve a new President and Vice-President for our Coalition at their November 2023 meeting. Both individuals have been longstanding Coalition members with leadership duties, and we thank them for their ongoing contributions to our mission.

President: Madison Weilnau, LSW

Formerly, our Coalition's Vice President, Madison is the Program Coordinator for the Wood County Addiction Response Collaborative (ARC). She received her Bachelor's Degree from Bowling Green State University and is a licensed social worker (LSW) in the state of Ohio. Her role within the ARC program is to offer support and resources to overdose victims and their families, as well as facilitate the program.

Aimee Coe, Vice President, MRC, LPCC-S

Formerly serving as Coalition Secretary, Aimee received her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and later her Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling from Bowling Green State University. Aimee is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervisory endorsement. Aimee has been the Wood County Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board as the Director of Community Programs since January 2018.

Year 9 DFC Funding Summary

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (our federal grant funding source) requires us to match 150% of the federal share ($125,000) in funding years 9 and 10. This means we must leverage an added $187,500 during these program years.

Below is a summary of the $187,500 in match funding raised in funding year 9 (ended September 29, 2023).

What is most exciting about year 9's match funding is that we nearly doubled the amount of volunteer service hours last year (compared to year 8). In year 8, the value of volunteer service time totaled $17,512.06. Last year (year 9), our volunteers contributed service valued at $32,048.68! The chart below provides added detail. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers! Your efforts truly make a difference in more ways than one.
