Over the next two years, we are expanding our middle school program. Applications are now open for 7th grade with 8th grade applications opening in fall 2022. We are excited to expand our already excellent program aligning with the tenets of our graduate profile. The comprehensive middle school program will prepare our scholars to meet or exceed the highest academic standards while cultivating the strength of biblical character necessary to change this world and enrich their communities through their actions. Our scholars will use their God-given gifts to serve with empathy, responsibility, and to inspire through leadership. Apply today!
Harvest Days
As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, we would like to extend our Harvest Days Celebration in memory of the late Mrs. Gwen Barjon. We are asking St. Philip’s friends and supporters to bring a gift of fresh produce to be donated to our food pantry. A drop-off box for produce donations will be placed in the front of the school Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm through November 19th. Help us meet our goal of 2500 pounds of produce! (Suggested produce: Potatoes, apples, oranges, cabbage, onions, carrots, turnips, rutabagas, butternut squash, and spaghetti squash.)
UPCOMING EVENTS
Veterans Day Chapel
Please Join us for our Veteran’s Day Chapel on November 11th on Facebook Live or Livestream. Our students will wear patriotic accessories with their uniforms to honor our veterans. We will pause to acknowledge and thank the men and women who sacrifice to keep our communities and our country safe. Please invite your family members and friends who are current or former military, police, firefighters or paramedics and allied staff of those fields to join us virtually for a chapel service in their honor.
Christmas Store
We are gearing up for our annual Christmas Store! Every year we offer our community members a chance to shop in the Christmas Store, using “angel tree bucks.” Last year, due to the pandemic, we served over 500 families, nearly four times as many families we served in the past. The store is stocked with new items that are graciously donated and staffed by generous volunteers. We invite you, your family, and friends to be part of this wonderful holiday tradition. For more information on items needed or to volunteer click here.

Hispanic Heritage Month
We pride ourselves on teaching our students to not only celebrate their own heritage but equipping them to celebrate others as well. Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated from September 15th-October 15th Honoring the culture, traditions, and history of people with Hispanic descent. Click the links below to see our students celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Girls Night Out
October’s Girls Night Out was our first in-person event since before the pandemic began. The girls were so excited to see our Junior League volunteers and spend time in each other’s presence. The girls decorated pumpkins, made cards, expressed what they were thankful for and much more. If you would like your daughter to participate in the next girls night out event on November 12th, or any future GNO events, click here.
Gwen’s Garden Volunteers Needed
We need your help in St. Philip's School and Community Center's Garden "Gwen's Garden." Slots are full for the month of November, but you can sign up to help for our December 4th date. Volunteers are needed every first Saturday of the month to weed, plant, harvest, and perform any other duties which lend themselves to the upkeep and general beautification of the garden. The garden provides fresh, organic vegetables to Aunt Bette's Community Pantry. Students, teachers, and volunteers plant and harvest these vegetables with the hopes of providing nourishment to those who would not otherwise have access to fresh, organic food. Sign up for our next garden clean up here. Contact Tia Stevens with any questions you may have.
AUNT BETTE'S COMMUNITY PANTRY
Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry Volunteers Needed
Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry has a few volunteer slots available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:45am-11:15 am and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm. All volunteers must wear masks and gloves, maintain safe social distance, and neighbors are required to wear masks upon arrival. Masks are provided on a need basis. Sign up to volunteer.
Pantry Volunteer Spotlight
We are delighted that our ministry partner in South Dallas, Men of Nehemiah, has signed up to work monthly in the pantry. They serve on Thursdays when the North Texas Food Truck makes its delivery, so there’s lots of heavy lifting and work to be done. Men of Nehemiah is a Christian organization designed to rebuild the lives of men and families that have been torn apart by the vicious onslaught of poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, crime and violence. Thank you to the Men of Nehemiah! We are beyond grateful for these wonderful men with servant hearts.
Snap Kitchen Volunteer Needed
We have a partnership with Snap Kitchen to help support our pantry needs with surplus food on a daily basis. Volunteers pick up daily at Snap Kitchen, Mockingbird and Skillman location, and deliver any available surplus meals to the pantry or one of our partners. We are currently in need of a volunteer for Wednesday mornings to help with this pick up. Please contact Dee Velvin if you are interested in Wednesdays, or if you would like to be on our “sub” list.
