New Hotel Ready to Open in Downtown Rochester

Construction is complete on the new Hilton Hotel in downtown Rochester. The company says the new building at the corner of South Broadway and East Center Street will welcome its first guests on April 16.
St. Cloud Chamber Earns Top Honors from National Camber

The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce continues to earn high marks. Our local chamber has been awarded a 5-Star Accreditation for the third consecutive time by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.President Teresa Bohnen says our local chamber remains in the top two percent of all chambers nationwide.

Institute

Institute for Organization Management (Institute) is the premier continuing education experience for chamber professionals. Since 1921, the Institute program has educated and empowered chamber executives with the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in their organizations and industry.

The Institute curriculum is comprised of four week-long sessions. Each session is five days and is offered at five locations across the country annually. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running an association. What Rural America Has to Teach Us

While this article doesn't contain Chamber of Commerce reference it certainly is representative of Nebraska and many other MACE communities.

Everybody says rural America is collapsing. But I keep going to places with more moral coherence and social commitment than we have in booming urban areas. These visits prompt the same question: How can we spread the civic mind-set they have in abundance? For example, I spent this week in Nebraska, in towns like McCook and Grand Island. These places are not rich. 
'We have a workforce crisis': Nebraska leaders sounding alarm about unfilled jobs

Hudl represents an economic development touchdown for Nebraska, a software startup that literally transformed the way football teams break down film and prepare for games...“This is now the most pressing economic issue in the state,” agreed Bryan Slone, president of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

South Dakota Legislature to study industrial hemp, meth epidemic this year

The Legislature plans to be ready to discuss industrial hemp by next year's session after Gov. Kristi Noem said the state wasn't ready this year...The Sioux Falls and Rapid City Chambers of Commerce, along with the health and building trade industries, were requesting that the state begin offering a Spanish-language paper test to allow non-English speakers to legally drive to jobs and construction sites to solve workforce shortages.

Inaugural class announced for LGBT Chamber's Business Leadership Academy

The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce,  one of the largest chambers in the Milwaukee area , has announced the inaugural class of its Business Leadership Academy, which was formed to provide chamber members with information on how to get LGBTQ and allied leaders into senior management positions and help reshape a business.
Room tax hike may reduce tourism dollars coming into area

Now that the La Crosse Center Board has recommended its final proposal to expand the building, the city must decide how to pay for it...The city proposes an increase to 12 percent, or a 50 percent increase. The Executive Director of the La Crosse County Convention and Visitors Bureau said if an 11 or 12 percent tax rate happens, it would give the city the highest room tax in Wisconsin.
Project will add colorful LED spotlights to Raccoon River trail bridge in Adel

Nighttime on Adel's Raccoon River Valley Trail bridge is going to get a lot more colorful next spring. An Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce committee is working on plans to install 66 LED color-changing spotlights on the old railroad bridge, which will illuminate the bridge deck and the river below.
