Embracing the Challenge Mindset

Keynote Speaker Greg Roth is a veteran of the chamber business. His presentation will be on Embracing the Challenge Mindset: How to take risks, forge a new path, and be more creative. Organizations get the best work out of their people when there is a “culture of innovation.” 

Greg will also be running a media training course at the conference, Own the Narrative: Lessons in storytelling though the media. This fast-paced session will make you a better spokesperson and advocate, teaching you the essentials of developing a core message, understanding both sides of an issue to your own benefit, and commanding the interview in any context.

The popular Bazaar After Dark night markets staged around the Fox Cities in recent years are often a thing of beauty — swarms of people enjoying a night out under twinkling light bulbs, accented by the occasional burst of flame. How might a few snow flurries enhance the evening? This weekend may be the time to find out, with the latest-ever staging of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce's free public celebration set for Saturday in Menasha. It's the third and final Bazaar After Dark for 2019.

Institute

Institute for Organization Management (Institute) is the premier continuing education experience for chamber professionals. Since 1921, the Institute program has educated and empowered chamber executives with the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in their organizations and industry.

The Institute curriculum is comprised of four week-long sessions. Each session is five days and is offered at five locations across the country annually. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running an association. Per capital income in metro Sioux City rises 5.3 percent

Per capita personal income in metro Sioux City jumped 5.3 percent last year, exceeding the national average, a new federal report shows...Siouxland Chamber of Commerce President Chris McGowan hailed the income gains, equating it to a strong and growing local economy. "One of the primary goals of economic development is to see personal income increase locally," McGowan said.
Humboldt Dakota City Chamber Votes to Dissolve

The Humboldt-Dakota City Chamber of Commerce sent out a letter this week, saying the organization would dissolve at the end of the year. The reason, is declining membership was making it hard for the organization to function.

Bag It Ordinance passes Duluth City Council

The Duluth City Council has passed the Bag it Ordinance by a 6-2 vote...David Ross with the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce says, “not something to be chastised but something to be embraced to make this work for the very people who are bringing those jobs and this investment to our community.”
Unemployment rates spike in Grand Island

From the month of September to October Grand Island's unadjusted unemployment rate is 15 times larger than surrounding cities..."Seasonal production work as it relates to crops and harvesting is a big part of Grand Island's economy. Obviously we are an AG community as the state is an agricultural state," said Grand Island Chamber of commerce President Cindy Johnson.
Omaha CEO Survey: 2020 Forecasted Growth Optimistic

The  Greater Omaha Chamber  today released results of the region's annual  Economic Outlook survey , a yearly measure of CEO confidence in projected performance. Shared at the region's  Economic Outlook Luncheon November 19 , the more than 100 CEOs surveyed echoed a strong and recurring theme in "growth" – revenue growth this year, projected sales growth next year and the importance of inclusive growth for the economic future of the region.

Rugby has a lot in store for local shoppers this holiday season. The Rugby Chamber of Commerce is hosting Centered for Christmas to make for a full day of fun to kick off the season. The Rugby Chamber of Commerce has added events to the big day including a chance for shoppers to register at Chamber businesses to win $100 in Rugby Bucks for shopping local on Small Business Saturday.

Apprenticeships Programs growing

The Registered Apprenticeships Program in South Dakota saw a signing ceremony and orientation, Friday, Nov. 15, in Pierre’s Chamber of Commerce building. Almost 50 representatives of businesses and government agencies were in attendance.
