Wisconsin sees second highest manufacturing job growth in U.S.

Wisconsin ranked second in the nation for manufacturing job growth in 2016 and 2017, according to recent data highlighted by groups celebrating the state’s “Manufacturing Month” throughout October...While research tax credits have been available to businesses for several decades, the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) say they should be revitalized to make Wisconsin more competitive.
Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce holds annual dinner

The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce held its 107th annual dinner on Thursday night. During the dinner, the chamber celebrated the previous years accomplishments, as well as looking ahead to the future and recognizing individuals that dedicated their time to further the Chamber’s mission.

Institute for Organization Management (Institute) is the premier continuing education experience for chamber professionals. Since 1921, the Institute program has educated and empowered chamber executives with the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in their organizations and industry.

The Institute curriculum is comprised of four week-long sessions. Each session is five days and is offered at five locations across the country annually. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running an association. Businesses court students for manufacturing, STEM careers

Middle school and high school students from Central DeWitt, Calamus-Wheatland, Northeast, Clinton, and St. Joseph School of DeWitt explored career opportunities at Central DeWitt high school Tuesday...Workforce is necessary to economic success, and the DeWitt Chamber wants students to know that jobs are available here if students want to stay, or if they move away and want to come home.

Safety Speed Hosts Minnesota Governor for National Manufacturing Day

Ham Lake, Minnesota-based  Safety Speed Manufacturing , manufacturers of panel processing machinery used in sign making, celebrated National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 4 by hosting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Along with the local Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing CoHort, the governor came to Safety Speed to celebrate the day and also to kick off National Manufacturing Month.

Vernon ‘Dale' Collinsworth, born Jan. 19, 1944, son of Elda Glenn and Florence Frampton Collinsworth, Ravenwood, Missouri, passed away at home, Henderson, Nevada, on Sept. 29, 2019...He was in Chamber of Commerce work for many years serving as CEO for the Chambers in Grinnell, Iowa; Marshall, Minnesota; Columbus, Nebraska, and Waterloo, Iowa.
Hallmark Channel celebrating Christmas early in David City

Lincoln has Christmas in July. Now David City will have Christmas in October...The Hallmark Channel, perhaps best known for its marathon presentations of Christmas-themed movies, is partnering with the Butler County Chamber of Commerce to decorate the town square as Candy Cane Lane. The event will include Santa Claus arriving in a 1910 Model T Ford.
Feel underpaid? You're not alone. Omaha offers low wages compared to similar cities

Nebraska business leaders have been sounding the alarm on the state’s shortage of skilled workers, seeking to get politicians to do more to help the state attract the workforce it needs to grow...Indeed, officials with the Greater Omaha Chamber have initiated such discussions with the chamber’s board and members. The chamber’s message is that higher wages may be necessary to attract workers during the current “global talent war” — not an easy conversation to have or fact to face.
