New Deer Plan Offered

After receiving strong negative feedback, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission has scrapped its original proposal and is considering a new plan for allocating deer hunting licenses...Receiving a welcome from Carmen Schramm, executive director of the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce. Schramm spoke of the chamber’s desire and work in creating partnerships for tourism, recreation and battling Missouri River sedimentation.

Wisconsin LGBT Chamber receives $10,000 Chamber Development Grant

The  Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce  has been awarded with a $10,000 chamber development grant. The  National LGBT Chamber of Commerce , the business voice of the LGBT community, recognized excellence in local chambers on Aug. 16 at the 2018  NGLCC International Business & Leadership Conference   in Philadelphia. The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber was honored to be a recipient.

Amid inflation rate concerns, local officials optimistic

Despite positive economic indicators such as a strong labor market and a national unemployment rate below 4 percent, inflation rose at a higher rate than average hourly wages between July 2017 and July 2018 across the nation according to the United States Department of Labor... Spencer Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Campbell noted the aging population of the city, an overall decline in population across the state and housing issues as obstacles that have had a detrimental affect on Spencer’s economy.

New coalition forms to fight recreational marijuana

A coalition of the Greater North Dakota Chamber and law enforcement are working against Measure 3, a ballot proposal to legalize recreational marijuana. Chamber President Arik Spencer says members of his organization are concerned about the increase of failed drug tests. He says in Colorado, where marijuana is legal, drug test failures have doubled, which he says North Dakota businesses cannot afford.
Community events honor service members on 9/11

The 2018 North Dakota 9/11 Memorial Climb aims to honor and remember the firefighters who gave their lives so that others might live on 9/11 in 2001...The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee with the North Dakota National Guard will host the annual Brats with the Brave picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Raymond J. Bohn Armory, 4200 Miriam Ave. in Bismarck.
