NEWSWORTHY & NOTEWORTHY

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CAREGIVERS OF THE WEEK:

Florence 'Katie' Brown, MD, and Amy Paramore, RDMS

Why they were nominated:

When presented with an emergent medical situation that required scheduling adjustments to accommodate a patient's needs, Dr. Brown and Amy stepped up. Their nomination reads, "The patient was scheduled to discuss management options on a Monday morning. They and their significant other were scheduled to leave on a planned trip that Friday. After being presented with treatment options, an in-office procedure was scheduled. Dr. Brown, without hesitation, extended her busy clinic day, and Amy and the team seamlessly worked to ensure that they could accommodate the patient the same day. They agreed this was in the patient's best interest, instead of waiting until the day before their trip. This is not the first time this team has worked together to accommodate our patients similarly. Putting patient care first is something they both do very well."

A little about them:

Dr. Brown is an ob/gyn with Duke Women's Health Associates and an assistant professor. Amy is an ultrasonographer at the Duke Women's Health Associates Brier Creek clinic.

Fun facts:

  • Dr. Brown is a devoted dog-mom to her pups Henry and Isaac and an Alabama football fan.
  • Amy loves the water and being near an ocean, lake or river feeds her soul.
