The air is filled with anticipation for Thanksgiving. A time for family, friends, and lots of delicious food! Here at Limoneira, we’re eager to share with you our holiday recipes. We are grateful to be able to engage with the community.

SouthWest International Produce Expo

Sustainable Growth

Limoneira is growing - literally! We are in the process of expanding our avocado production by 1,000 acres. The expansion will help us meet the growing demand for avocados while continuing our commitment to sustainable farming practices.

Recipe of the Month

Delight your taste buds this November with our zesty Lemon Poppy Seed Bread. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for Thanksgiving brunch or as a thoughtful gift. The flavor of Limoneira® lemons shines through, making each slice a delicious celebration of the season.

Ingredients:

🍋 2 cups all-purpose flour

🍂 1 cup sugar

🍋 1/2 teaspoon salt

🍂 2 teaspoons baking powder

🍋 1 Limoneira® lemon for juicing and zest 

🍂 1/4 cup poppy seeds

🍋 1/2 cup milk

🍂 1/2 cup vegetable oil

🍋 3 large eggs

🍂 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and poppy seeds.
3. In another bowl, combine lemon juice, lemon zest, milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Allow to cool before slicing.

Hurricane Helene Support Effort

Limoneira contributed to relief efforts in North Carolina, providing donations to communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

With the help of our Regional Sales Manager, Kimberly Mangum, and her son, Sullivan, we worked alongside local partners like W.R. Vernon and Houston Transportation to deliver food, household essentials, and pet supplies.

A special thank you to the North Carolina State Troopers who helped escort the donations, ensuring they reached those in need. And a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this meaningful mission.

Limoneira Welcomes the California Ag Leadership Foundation

We were honored to host the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation at our Limoneira packing house last week. The 2024 D.C. Exchange kicked off its program tour in Southern California last week, continuing a remarkable tradition of over 40 years dedicated to experiential learning and leadership development. This program brings together representatives from various federal agencies to foster better communication and understanding through hands-on educational experiences.

During their visit, the leadership group continues their learning by touring Limoneira's packing operations. A heartfelt thank you to Helen McGrath, Luis Calderon, Cornelio Blanco, Scott Klittich, Maureen McGuire, and all the speakers, hosts, and alumni who contributed.

Limoneira's Director’s Field Day

Last month we hosted our Director’s Field Day. Board Chair Scott Slater and President & CEO Harold Edwards would like to extend their gratitude once again to the attendees. Everyone at Limoneira is grateful for the close-knit community that made this a special day.
