In many ways, winter is a time of rest and reflection. The weather is getting noticeably colder, and activity is winding down outside on the Farm. The late fall produce harvest is wrapping up, and the last education class of the year will soon be complete. It’s been a great year, with something for absolutely everyone.
Did you know that NCF
·
O
ffers summer and fall CSA shares to over 100 participants
·
Has a summer camp for approximately 170 campers over eight weeks
·
Puts on three annual events (Seedling Sale, Dinner on the Farm, and the Fall Festival) that bring over 2,000 visitors to the Farm each year
·
Runs our farm stand with our own produce as well as items in demand from other local farms for half the year
·
Sets up at the Newton Farmers’ Market in West Newton every Saturday for more than 15 weeks
·
Runs educational programs onsite and off for individuals from babies to seniors throughout the year
·
Donates to local food charity organizations to help those in need?
And so much more. While most of this outdoor activity is wrapped up for the year, we are busily planning, budgeting, and fundraising so that we can continue to be a resource for this community in the year to come.
We have exciting plans for 2020, but NCF needs your support. While the Farm is on city-owned land, NCF is an independent nonprofit that manages the Farm without financial support from the city for our operating costs. Your contributions are important to ensuring a full complement of fresh, healthy produce, education classes, events, and all the other opportunities you look for from your community farm.
If you haven’t yet, please donate today.
Together we can ensure good stewardship of our land, food systems, and our treasured open space.
