Newton Farmers' Markets Move to Newton South High School
The decision has been made! Newton's farmers' markets will take place this season at Newton South High School. The Saturday market opens June 20th, 9 am - 1 pm and the Tuesday market opens June 30th, 2 - 6 pm. Both markets will be open for 17 weeks.

Why the change in venue?
While we love our usual locations at Elm Street and Cold Spring Park, the state's new farmers' market guidelines for the COVID-19 crisis require physical distancing measures and limiting market access to a single entrance and exit point. Unfortunately, neither of the previous locations could meet these requirements, so we've moved!

The markets will look and function differently this season. Our number one goal is to safely and efficiently support the community's access to local, nutritious food. To mitigate the possible spread of COVID-19, Newton's markets, like others throughout the region, are implementing a variety of new practices, from pay-in-advance, curb-side pickup for those hesitant to leave their vehicles, to no-touch shopping for those purchasing items directly from farms and vendors. There will be more information coming out soon about what to expect at this season's farmers' markets.
Village Bank Donation Funds SNAP Matching
It comes as no surprise that during the current COVID-19 crisis, food insecurity has increased, and there are many members of our community in need of healthy food. This season, The Village Bank has generously donated $5,000 to our farmers' markets to help fund a SNAP match program. Now, when SNAP customers shop at either of our markets, we will double their  SNAP benefits up to $10, making it possible to purchase $20 worth of healthy, fresh foods for $10. We are so grateful to The Village Bank for this ongoing support of our markets and our community!
Who will be at the Farmers' Markets this Year?
We are still in the process of confirming all of this season's vendors, but here is a current list, by market. Information on each of these vendors is posted on www.allovernewton.com .

Farmers' Market Volunteers Needed!
We need community volunteers to help at the markets this year. Can you lend a hand? Volunteers are needed for the following roles:

  • Count customers as they enter and exit the market.
  • Guide customers as they move through the market.
  • Make certain shoppers are following physical distancing guidelines.
  • Assist with curbside pick-up.

Interactions with customers will be contact-free and appropriate physical distance will be maintained at all times.

To volunteer, please contact Judy Dore at jdore@newtonma.gov
