Dr Carolin George is an experienced physician, well-versed in the design conduct and analysis of epidemiological studies in the public health domain with a special focus on communicable and non-communicable diseases and operational research at the national, state and grass-root levels. Her areas of expertise include designing and overseeing medical research, managing national programmes, analytical ability and field experience in planning, organizing and conducting operational research in varied populations.
As a public Health Specialist, who is currently the heading the Community Health Institute of Research & Training and Chair of research in Bangalore Baptist Hospital, universal access to healthcare and health equity in challenging low resource setting is her area of passion and interest. Dr. Carolin George's area of work involves contextualizing 'medical care and scientific advancements' to suit the needs of the most vulnerable and finding ways to make 'the care' accessible to them. Through a network of clinics and specific programs, the community health division cater to 1 million population in slums and another million in rural villages in Bangalore, South India. She along with her team co-design health and health interventions with the community, document the success and failures and contribute to building evidence for health care delivery in low resource settings.
