April 24, 2022

Our next CCA Advocacy Committee Meeting is on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 9:30AM - 11:30AM.

At this meeting we will continue reviewing the bills in our CCA Bill Tracker and voting on positions and/or keeping them in our Bill Tracker. Remember that every bill we follow must have a volunteer who will take responsibility to follow that bill through the committee hearings and discuss it at the CCA Advocacy Committee Meetings.

  • Please review the list of bills and come prepared to share your top bills that you think we should follow and become involved with.
  • Remember that we will need volunteers to step forward to follow each of the bills we are tracking.
  • Be prepared to get involved in the bill tracking.

Here is a link to our bill tracker web page

where you will find the link to the actual bill tracker:

Spring is in full swing, and so are things here at Stop Fraud. For starters, the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) – a new comprehensive state privacy law – is set to take effect July 1, 2023. The CPA will enable Colorado consumers to learn about and have more control over how businesses collect and use their personal information, and will provide greater protection over the privacy and security of their personal data. Under the CPA, Colorado consumers will have the right to:

• Tell businesses not to sell their personal data or use it for certain purposes;

• Know what personal data businesses collect and how they use it;

• Access the personal data that businesses have collected about them;

• Have businesses delete certain pieces of their personal data;

• Have businesses correct errors in certain pieces of their personal data;

• And have businesses provide their personal data in a portable format.

The CPA also gives the Colorado Attorney General authority to implement and enforce rules governing data privacy. To help inform the CPA rules, the Colorado Attorney General's Office is currently seeking diverse input from businesses and the public. If you wish to participate and submit feedback, you can use the Attorney General's CPA rulemaking comment form, which you can ACCESS HERE.

Is Xcel Energy making too much money? Colorado voters could

get the chance to decide

"Colorado voters could have a rare chance to weigh in on their rising electricity bills this November. Jon Caldara, the president of the Denver-based Independence Institute, has proposed a ballot initiative that would force investor-owned utilities to return hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue to ratepayers. It takes particular aim at Xcel Energy, Colorado's largest power utility and a company leading a rapid transition to renewable energy across the state..." READ MORE

Colorado’s fentanyl bill will force more people into treatment.

Treatment providers may not be ready

"Every few minutes, someone new steps out of the elevator and takes a seat in the long, dimly lit hallway of Denver Health’s opiate treatment clinic. Some live on the streets. Others are dressed for the office. Each one is waiting to be seen by nurses behind glass windows.'The front lines — this is it,' said nurse Erin Aufdemberge on one recent weekday morning. 'We are seeing people as they’re coming off the streets, and they’re withdrawing, and they’re trying to make that change.' This second-floor medical office is one of the busiest opiate addiction treatment clinics in the Mountain West. The patients arrive as early as 5:45 a.m. — many on their way to work — to receive methadone and buprenorphine, medicines that can help manage addiction to narcotics like fentanyl...' READ MORE
