February 28, 2022

Our next CCA Advocacy Committee Meeting is on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 9:30AM - 11:30AM.

At this meeting we will continue reviewing the bills in our CCA Bill Tracker and voting on positions and/or keeping them in our Bill Tracker. Remember that every bill we follow must have a volunteer who will take responsibility to follow that bill through the committee hearings and discuss it at the CCA Advocacy Committee Meetings.

  • Please review the list of bills and come prepared to share your top bills that you think we should follow and become involved with.
  • Remember that we will need volunteers to step forward to follow each of the bills we are tracking.
  • Be prepared to get involved in the bill tracking.

We have been asked to support HB22-1050 International Medical Graduate Integrate Health-care Workforce. We will have a discussion about this bill at Monday’s Meeting.

This bill is designed to create pathways for International Medical Graduates (IMGs), who are individuals that hold a medical degree from a country outside the U.S. Colorado currently is facing a large shortage of physicians while IMGs face a number of barriers entering the workforce. This bill will open doors for the over 300 IMGs seeking to be part of the solution to the physician shortage across our great state.

Vacancy on CCA Board

The Colorado Center for Aging is dependent on volunteers, which includes our Board of Directors, to ensure we are successful at our mission of educating and advocating for older Coloradans. CCA’s board is an active collegial group of individuals committed to providing an advocacy platform for the issues most impacting the wellbeing of older Coloradans.

We are seeking to fill a vacancy on our Board of Directors and are particularly interested in candidates with any of the following areas of expertise: financial, banking, accounting and fundraising.

If you are interested in applying or knowing more about CCA’s Board of Directors, please reach out to Kelly Roberts, Vice President of Colorado Center for Aging at [email protected].

Xcel Energy could overcharge customers 'tens of millions of dollars'

after last year’s cold snap, state watchdog says

"A state office representing utility customers says Xcel Energy mishandled its operations during a 2021 winter storm, failing to take measures that could have saved ratepayers tens of millions of dollars. The Colorado Office of the Utility Consumer Advocate filed its argument last week with the state Public Utilities Commission, which will decide how much Xcel — the state’s largest utility — can charge its customers to recoup what it spent during the cold snap. The extreme weather froze natural gas production and hiked fuel prices across the country, leading to major outages in Texas and other states but not in Colorado ..." Read more
