June 12, 2022

Hello

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the pleasant early summer weather! Monday, June 13th is our first meeting of the CCA Monday Morning Advocacy committee. As a reminder we will be meeting the 2nd and 4th Mondays through November via Zoom. At tomorrow’s meeting Jeanette Hensley and Rich Mauro will be leading a discussion and review of the 2022 legislative session. This session was different than any they have ever seen. We hope our members will also share their advocacy experiences this year. Many of the bills we supported this year passed. We will also spend time talking to get feedback from our members on 2023 legislative priorities.

Take our Survey

Colorado Center for Aging has introduced a survey we are strongly encouraging our members and supporters to take. As many grantors require information about an organizations' diversity, equity, and inclusion this survey will help us establish a baseline of demographics that we might become as representative as possible of our state. As a 501c3, CCA is eligible to apply for such grant funding and this survey will contribute to our success. The survey is completely confidential. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our Executive Director, Andrew Davies, at adavies@coloradocenterforaging.org.

Note: It is NOT required to sign in to a Google account to complete the survey.

It’s Time to Throw Out Stereotypes on Aging

"The National Geographic and AARP exclusive study shows that older Americans are redefining their health, defying challenges and living with purpose. In late 2021, journalists at National Geographic magazine and AARP discussed working together to explore how Americans perceive aging as we emerge from the COVID pandemic. That began a research collaboration focused on asking people like you questions that would probe the full breadth of aging issues — from health and finances to attitudes about happiness, home, optimism and even dying..."

Tow companies can’t take your car without 24-hours notice, according to new law

Gov. Jared Polis signed a bill into law on Tuesday that makes it harder for towing companies to remove cars from apartment complexes, mobile home parks and other residential communities. House Bill 22-1314 clarifies and strengthens the state’s existing requirements that companies give certain notifications prior to towing a vehicle on private property. Sponsors say the changes will help protect residents from the financial fallout of an unexpected tow due to minor parking offenses. Previous laws only required towers to notify law enforcement 30 minutes after towing a vehicle from a private property, sharing the storage location and description of the vehicle..."
