March 6, 2022
Our next CCA Advocacy Committee Meeting is on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 9:30AM - 11:30AM.
At this meeting we will continue reviewing the bills in our CCA Bill Tracker and voting on positions and/or keeping them in our Bill Tracker. Remember that every bill we follow must have a volunteer who will take responsibility to follow that bill through the committee hearings and discuss it at the CCA Advocacy Committee Meetings.
- Please review the list of bills and come prepared to share your top bills that you think we should follow and become involved with.
- Remember that we will need volunteers to step forward to follow each of the bills we are tracking.
- Be prepared to get involved in the bill tracking.

The Dilemma of Disability Designations
"Personal memories start me down this road to write about the emotional ramifications of disability labels and associated stigmas. As a parent, I will never forget when my son was in his mid-twenties, standing outside a bagel store talking to himself, his arms rocking by his side. I had gone into the store and heard the employees talking about my son, saying he looked 'crazy.' They were afraid he would come into the store ..."

911 Emergency Response System Webinar
Colorado Cross Disability Coalition (CCDC), along with several partner organizations from the disability community, have been working with the Colorado Department of Public Safety to improve how emergency responders interact with people who have disabilities. A current problem is how to improve 911 dispatch services for callers whose communication is affected by a disability. During the meeting, the Colorado Department of Public Safety will be giving a demo of a new emergency response system that is being developed, and we need our community members to learn about this new system and offer their feedback to ensure that the system works for people with disabilities.
