Our next CCA Advocacy Committee Meeting is on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 9:30AM - 11:30AM.

At this meeting we will continue reviewing the bills in our CCA Bill Tracker and voting on positions and/or keeping them in our Bill Tracker. Remember that every bill we follow must have a volunteer who will take responsibility to follow that bill through the committee hearings and discuss it at the CCA Advocacy Committee Meetings.

  • Please review the list of bills and come prepared to share your top bills that you think we should follow and become involved with.
  • Remember that we will need volunteers to step forward to follow each of the bills we are tracking.
  • Be prepared to get involved in the bill tracking.

Here is a link to our bill tracker web page

where you will find the link to the actual bill tracker:

How a Right to Repair Bill Could Speed Up Wheelchair Fixes

"A right to repair bill requiring wheelchair manufacturers give customers tools to fix their chairs faces the Colorado state senate. Even if the fix is simple, such as changing a battery or replacing a tire’s inner tube, most wheelchair users can’t make the repair themselves (or hire a trusted repair-person), in part because they haven’t been given a manual or specialized tools. Some power wheelchairs even include a locking device that prevents the hardware or software from being tinkered with, and manufacturers currently aren’t required to hand out the corresponding key..." Heartbeat-Tracking Technology Raises Patients’ and Doctors’ Worries

"If someone’s heart skips a beat, tech companies want to let them know about it.Gadget firms — starting with Apple and now Fitbit, which is owned by Google — are selling wearable devices that check heartbeat rhythms and alert users when something is out of sync. These products involve some feats of technology. Many use sophisticated optical sensors that peer beneath the skin to monitor how blood volume changes — almost like tracking the tides — and thereby tally heartbeats. Other devices have a miniature electrocardiogram — which records the heart’s electrical activity — embedded..."
