At this meeting we will have guest speakers:

  • Jarett Hughes and Geoff Alexander 9:45AM - 10:15AM - At this meeting we will have Jarett Hughes, Senior Policy Advisor on Aging, Office of Governor and Geoff Alexander, Principal Analyst DOLA, CDHS, Behavioral Health talk about items in the governor's budget related to older adults and some bills state agencies are considering.
  • CCA Advocacy Topics Survey for 2023 - We will review the Mentimeter Survey on Advocacy Topics for 2023. If you have not had a chance to take the survey yet here is the link - https://www.menti.com/alq9iv9a96hq

Disability Identifier for Driver License/Permit/Identification Card

With the signing of HB 21-1014 (Disability Symbol Identification Document Act), Coloradans who might not be able to effectively communicate with first responders due to a cognitive, neurological, mental health, sensory needs, chronic illness, chronic pain and/or physical disability can choose to add a disability symbol identifier to their driver license or identification card. A person can also choose to remove the symbol at any time. The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin allowing those eligible to add the disability symbol identifier to their driver license or identification on July 1, 2022 -

Senior Health Care & Medicare Assistance (Colorado SHIP & SMP)

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (or SHIP) helps Medicare enrollees navigate the Medicare system and provides free, unbiased and individualized information. Housed within the Division of Insurance, Colorado SHIP has 17 local locations at partner agencies around the state. The Senior Medicare Patrol (or SMP) helps Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse. Cyber-Seniors provides FREE technology support and training for senior citizens

Founded in 2015 by the creators of the award-winning documentary film CYBER-SENIORS, this non-profit organization provides senior citizens with tech-training using an intergenerational, volunteer model. Young people are provided with lessons and learning activities to train them to act as digital mentors and senior citizens gain access to effective technology training and intergenerational communities that keep them socially connected and engaged. Fall Medicare open enrollment is going on now. The 2022 fall Medicare Open Enrollment Period for 2023 Medicare coverage started October 15th and lasts until December 7, 2022. Depending on your circumstances, this may be the only time during the year that you may be able to update your Medicare coverage.

Communities Against Poverty 2022 from Colorado Center on Law and Policy

On December 1, 2022, join Colorado Center on Law and Policy for our signature annual fall event, Communities Against Poverty. This year’s celebration of the anti-poverty movement in Colorado will feature a Keynote speech by Dr. Fred Wherry, Princeton sociology professor and Director of the Dignity and Debt Network. He will joined by CCLP visiting scholar Dr. Lois Lupica of the University of Denver. Participants will be able ask live questions of the keynote speakers as in years past.

Direct Care Workforce Collaborative Webinar

The Direct Care Workforce Collaborative is working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify and move forward strategies to support the recruitment and retention of Colorado's direct care workforce.
