The future of ChatGPT in academic clinical and translational medical research

ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI)‐powered chatbot developed by OpenAI, is creating a buzz across all occupational sectors. Its name comes from its basis in the Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) language model. ChatGPT's most promising feature is its ability to offer human‐like responses to text input using deep learning techniques at a level far superior to any other AI model. Its rapid integration in various industries signals the public's burgeoning reliance on AI technology. Thus, it is essential to critically evaluate ChatGPT's potential impacts on academic clinical and translational medicine research.

In March 2024, UC students, faculty, and staff demonstrated UC’s leadership in arts-integrated research at the a2ru Emerging Creatives Student Summit 2024, hosted at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Centered around the theme "PLAY: The Impact of Play on How We Create and Relate to the World," our team engaged in interdisciplinary projects at RIT’s facility, showcasing UC's commitment to fostering innovation and diversity through arts-integrated research. NSF Regional Innovation Engines Program Roadshow

The U.S. National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines (NSF Engines) program creates regional-scale, technology-driven, inclusive innovation ecosystems throughout the United States by accelerating key technologies, addressing regional, national, societal, and/or geostrategic challenges, driving economic growth, creating and retaining quality jobs, expanding equitable pathways into careers, and strengthening national competitiveness and security.


During the Roadshow Webinar, participants will learn about the NSF Engines program, including the program goals, requirements for proposing teams, submission information, and the merit review process. The goal of this webinar is to bring awareness to this exciting opportunity to build innovation ecosystems throughout the U.S.
