TRAVEL SOUTHERN OREGON COAST COLLABORATES WITH SNOW PEAK
This summer, as part of TSOC's Next Level Adventure Partnership Campaign, we had an amazing opportunity to collaborate with Snow Peak USA, a cult outdoor brand centered around gathering in the great outdoors.
Snow Peak journeyed to the South Coast to explore our breathtaking natural resources, and TSOC was thrilled to be a part of it. Together, we organized a photo shoot and created stunning content that is being shared across Snow Peak and TSOC's social media platforms.
During their stay, the Snow Peak team enjoyed a delightful day of camping at Sisters Rock, an impromptu evening happy hour with a gorgeous view of Table Rock as the sun set, an ocean fishing expedition with Port Orford Charters, and a foggy hike on the scenic trails of Samuel Boardman. They ended their travels with a sandy retreat in the dunes of North Bend, complete with camping, cookouts, campfires, and thrilling off-roading experiences.
To cap off the collaboration, TSOC and Snow Peak joined to offer an incredible prize package featuring Snow Peak's Takibi Fire & Grill along with a $500 gift card! To enhance the package, the Southern Oregon Coast added a two-night stay at Redfish Loft in Port Orford, a chartered Fishing Trip with Port Orford Charters, and dinner for two at the Crazy Norwegian. How's that for a spectacular weekend getaway on the Southern Oregon Coast?
Keep an eye on TSOC's website for more updates on Snow Peak's visit, which will be showcased in an upcoming blog post. And, don't miss out on Snow Peak's firsthand account of their remarkable adventure.

THE SOUTH COAST OUTDOOR RECREATION MAP IS LIVE! CHECK IT OUT.
Thanks to a team of dedicated individuals, the Travel Southern Oregon Coast Outdoor Recreation Map is now live on the TSOC website. This new map encourages visitors to explore the region in a whole new way. Whether an adventure junkie or simply an outdoors lover, visitors will find this outdoor recreation map is the ultimate guide to discovering the Southern Oregon Coast.
Annie Williams, a former RARE (Resource Assistance for Rural Environments) AmeriCorps Member assigned to TSOC, used her many talents to design and oversee the project. Sharon Lippold, a skilled copywriter contracted by TSOC, contributed her expertise to create the written content. Additionally, numerous TSOC board members and tourism industry peers actively participated in the diligent planning of the map, carefully selecting the activities to showcase and offering valuable feedback throughout the process. Given the abundance of extraordinary destinations and exhilarating experiences on the South Coast, reaching a consensus on the final selection was no small feat!
Whether visitors are planning a weekend getaway or a longer vacation, the Outdoor Recreation Map offers an excellent starting point for them to plan and explore the natural beauty of the Southern Oregon Coast. Even those who have lived here their whole life will find something new, or at least an inspiration to try an activity they haven't enjoyed in a while. Check out the map for yourself, then encourage your friends and all the "friends of the coast" you meet to do the same.
Large, glossy maps will be printed soon and distributed across Oregon and in strategic locations. In the meantime, the map is available to download in PDF format and includes some bonus spotlights that you won't find on the website.

ANNULAR ECLIPSE WATCHERS COMING TO THE SOUTHERN OREGON COAST TO SEE A RING OF FIRE!
On October 14, 2023, a celestial spectacle awaits us and our out-of-town visitors as the sun and moon perfectly align to orchestrate an annular eclipse. Beginning a few minutes past 8 AM, this continent's first glimpse of the eclipse will be visible from Langlois to Gleneden Beach, with Reedsport serving as the optimal vantage point. This rare phenomenon will give birth to a "ring of fire" that will be discernable in the southeastern sky.
Communities such as Bandon, Coos Bay, and Reedsport are strategically positioned along the path of totality to take advantage of this truly awe-inspiring phenomenon. The peak shadow, when the "ring of fire" occurs, lasts about 3 to 4.5 minutes with the total duration of the eclipse lasting around 2.5 hours.
Many watch parties are being organized along the coast in anticipation of this extraordinary event. Secure your protective eyewear in advance and get ready for the influx of visitors expected to converge here to witness this rare and breathtaking phenomenon. Read on to find out more.
