Hello!

In just a couple weeks, DRDFS and The Princeton Review will be hosting 2 days of SAT prep with you, virtually! The sessions will split up the sections of the SAT over the 2 days. You will get to work through problems with the instructor, learn tips/tricks to use while taking the SAT, and have the ability to ask questions! After the sessions, you will have access to the recordings and some additional ways to practice for the SAT using your account from The Princeton Review.

Keep reading to learn more about some upcoming opportunities as well as resources available to you as a Next Level Scholar! As always, please feel welcome to reach out with questions/concerns.

ICYMI: MEET DRDFS POST-SECONDARY TRANSITION COACH, DEVON HALL!
Hey Class of 2023 Next Level Scholars!

My name is Mrs. Devon Hall and I’m pleased to introduce myself as the new Post-Secondary Transition Coach with the Next Level Scholars program! I am so happy to have joined an organization like Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars as I have a profound love of all things related to post-secondary education! I love working with students through the discovery process, the ups and downs of funding concerns, and making YOUR decision on what’s next. All of these things are a very necessary experience that can seem overwhelming. I’m here to experience it with you and help you learn to balance the weight!

I am a proud Detroit native with 7 years of experience in college advising and admissions counseling. In my former role, I was an admissions representative with Saginaw Valley State University and served the students of Southeast Michigan for 5 years. Before my professional time with SVSU, I was a student there and graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor’s in Communication, minoring in Spanish.

I encourage you all to remember that 9th-11th grades are the most academically important years of high school. Junior year is a pivotal time because you’re just over half way finished! The cumulative GPA and standardized test score earned by the end of 11th grade is what most institutions will have to base your consideration for admission on while you’re applying this upcoming Fall. The road to graduation isn’t that far away, so now is definitely the time to get serious about researching your next steps. No matter what your plan is, I’m here to encourage you to speak life and breathe life into your goals. I want you to use critical thinking skills to make informed decisions about your future. Interpersonal relationships are important to me. Being able to connect with people helps me value their experience in life. I appreciate you guys in advance for taking the time to get to know me, just as I will grow to learn more about each of you.

I look forward to partnering with Marissa and working with you guys more in the upcoming months as you make your transition from a high school junior to high school senior! 2023 has great things in store for you and I can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish! I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
