Greetings!

We are pleased to announce our next SWWAP event early next year. We also share a taste of our last event, Freeze Out Fascism Sign Brigade. It has been a tough year to be sure, but together we will claw back the losses and help continue to enact a progressive legacy for America.

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

SWWAP EVENT WITH AUTHOR & ACTIVIST

DICK CATES

WHEN: SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 6 PM

WHERE: BRIX CIDER 🍎 119 S.SECOND STREET

Dick Cates is a lifelong Wisconsin resident, farmer and environmentalist in Spring Green. He has spoken out about the impact of tariffs.

“As a farmer, tariffs are hard to work with - especially hard on those caught in the middle," he said. "I don’t want to live in a country where masked men can take people away. My father and mother taught us to believe in human dignity and the rule of law to protect people’s inalienable rights and liberties.”

Dick is also an accomplished author. His book, A Small Creek Runs Through This Driftless Land tells of his deep commitment to farming and care of the land. Every farm is a story, but rarely is the story told as it is here with such depth, honesty, emotion, and inspiration. Presented here is the remarkable journey of the Cates Family Farm and the people who have learned through the lessons of experience to live in harmony with their landscape and in gratitude for the gifts it brings. Dick will have copies of the book for sale and will gladly sign purchases.

This special event is sponsored by SouthWest Wisconsin Area Progressives, (SWWAP), Mount Horeb Area Progressive Trolls, and Brix Cider.

FREEZE OUT FASCISM SIGN BRIGADE

HITS HOME

In the face of sub-arctic temperatures, SWWAPers took to the streets to deliver a compelling message to motorists in Mount Horeb. Captured beautifully through the lens of SWWAP supporter Todd Phipps, the accompanying video not only showcases the resilience and determination. The video is set against the poignant soundtrack of Phil Ochs' "Do What I Have To Do", a powerful reminder that the call for justice and equity remains as urgent now as it was in 1966 when the song was written.

US: The Politics of Climate Change - Climate Scorecard

It is devastating to see the United States not only lack climate-friendly policy, but also develop fossil fuel policies that support the destruction of the environment. Our hope is that, maybe one day, this administration’s policies will influence the public to take action and vote against politicians who have been bought out by oil and gas interest. As climate change continues to devastate the United States and the world beyond, maybe we will begin to show up and fight against climate change collectively, supporting politicians who favor strong greenhouse gas mitigation policies.

AND JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT

HE COULD NOT SINK ANY LOWER . . .

Trump's comment on Reiner's death:
A moment of shocking moral clarity.

Peering into the bottomless evil of a man’s soul can be a harrowing experience. On Monday, Americans stared into the pitch darkness of Trump’s soul and recoiled in disgust and horror . . .

DONALD TRUMP, DESTRUCTOR AND THIEF

Not content with demolishing a wing of the people's house, Trump has sights on the destruction of other historic structures. The four are the Robert C. Weaver Federal Building, named for the first Black Cabinet member, completed in 1968 and on the National Register of Historic Places as a building worthy of preservation for its historical significance or artistic value; the New Deal–era General Services Administration (GSA) Regional Office Building; the 1919 Liberty Loan Building, which is the last of the World War I era “tempos” erected as the city grew to accommodate a changing government; and the 1940 Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building, full of priceless murals that date from its start as the home of the Social Security Board, the precursor to the Social Security Administration.

THERE IS REASON TRUMP WANTS IT DESTROYED

Sign and Forward this Petition

Built during the New Deal era, the Cohen Building (originally the Social Security Building) houses extraordinary public art by Ben Shahn, Philip Guston, Seymour Fogel, Richmond Barthé, Ethel and Jenne Magafan, and others. Their murals and relief sculptures celebrate the creation of Social Security and the dignity of American workers and families. Together, these artists produced more than 1,800 square feet of art, painted and carved directly into the building’s walls — tributes to the everyday Americans whose labor built our nation and whose security it sought to protect.

MURALS OF AMERICAN VALUES WHICH TRUMP DOES NOT VALUE!

Martin Luther King Jr., who, when called an agitator, explained:

"Well, look inside your washing machine... There's an agitator in there... That agitator is in there, stirring up the water, knocking the dirt out of your clothes. Well, that's what I'm doing... I'm agitating to knock the dirt out of our society".

KEEP ON AGITATING !
