Next Steps

On Tuesday, August 4, Grace staff, committee chairs, and ministry team leaders met with Pastor Jen to discuss our next steps for gathering in-person at Grace. Through much discussion, the following was decided:

We will have a three-month phased plan for returning to in-person worship (at 50% capacity) and live streaming services. This phasing will allow the worship tech team to have a dedicated volunteer or staff member serving alongside Brad Wallace to support the audio and visual needs of recording and live streaming worship. These plans are all contingent on state, county, and conference guidelines.

Phased Plan Details:
  • August - We will continue to prerecord worship to view online. Pastor Jen is restarting the Tuesday Morning Bible Study for those who want to meet in a small group. Also, for those who do not have access to internet that allows for at home online worship, the service will be available to watch at church. Please let us know if you would like to view the service at Grace to allow us to schedule the best date and time for viewing.
  • September - We will continue to prerecord worship to view online. In addition, we will have a Sunday morning worship experience that is a hybrid of the "Just Push Play" viewing we held in July. Pastor Jen will welcome folks to church, in addition she will pray and preach live. The music during those Sunday mornings will be prerecorded and played via the screens. Worship will also continue to be available online to watch from your homes.
  • October - We hope to be able to change from prerecording worship to live streaming Sunday morning services starting in October. We will open up worship at 50% capacity (approx. 30-40 in the sanctuary and overflow seating in the narthex). The service will be live streamed while people are in the building attending worship. People can also choose to still watch from home.

In addition, we are working towards continuing to develop safe small groups, children's ministry programs, and youth group offerings. Stay tuned for more information.

If you have questions or concerns about Grace's next steps please contact Pastor Jen via email or by calling church 218-568-5755.
August Mission:
Back to School
Although school will certainly look different this fall, we are still committed to supporting our local teachers. We celebrate that in 2018 Grace raised $464.25 and collected school supplies that we shared with teachers in our congregation. In 2019, Grace raised $815.00. We again shared those funds with teachers in our congregation and also donated $400 to the Pequot Lakes Middle School 6th grade teachers (as their grade was selected from a hat during our end of August worship celebration).

This August, we want to continue this amazing support of our local educators. We have set a goal to raise $500 by the end of August. This money will be used to purchase $10 gift cards for teachers at Eagle View Elementary (Pequot Lakes) and also to share with the teachers that are part of our church family. Please consider donating $10 or more to help us reach our goal! Every $10 contribution will go towards blessing a teacher in our community! Donate by writing out a check to Grace UMC with “Back to School Mission” in the memo line or visit our website graceumcpequotlakes.org/online-giving.
