Make plans to attend the 8th Annual CPES and NEWIEE event on September 22! Hear from Alicia Barton, Tracy Babbidge, Katherine Rougeux, Sharon Lewis and panel moderator Anne George as they explore the role of peaker plants in Connecticut's grid. Peaker plants serve a unique role in our current grid by providing key reliability services. However, many peakers emit pollutants at a higher rate than baseload plants. The majority are located in communities with a higher percentage of low-income households, and peakers disproportionately impact communities of color.

The UCONN Center for Energy and Environmental Law and the Human Rights Clinic has invited all attendees to an evening discussion about the future of energy and human rights. Immediately following the networking break from 5:00-5:30 pm, Professor Joseph MacDougald, Executive Director, Center for Environmental and Energy Law will lead a panel discussion “Climate Justice & ESG” focusing on the accuracy and use of ESG metrics for investors and corporations.
